So Trump won't get America out of NAFTA after all. Americans, especially those who voted for Trump, should not be happy. Canadians, on the other hand, should rejoice.

His slogan of "America First" is becoming a joke.

NAFTA's great for the corporations. I should have known Trump wouldn't put an end to it.

Trump’s Tax Plan Is Brilliant Politics and Even Better Economics
    Jeffrey A. Tucker

Donald Trump’s tax plan seems to mark a new chapter in his presidency, from floundering around with strange and sometimes scary policies (bombings, border closings, saber rattling) to focusing on what actually matters and what can actually make the difference for the American people and the American economy.

Under Trump's plan, taxes on corporate profits go from 35% to 15%. They should be zero (like the Bahamas), but this is a good start. Taxes on capital gains go from 23.8% to 20%. Again, it should be zero (as with New Zealand), but it is a start. Rates for all individuals are lowered to three: 10%, 25%, and 35%. The standard deduction for individuals is doubled (politically brilliant). The estate tax and the alternative minimum tax is gone. Popular deductions for charitable giving and...

    Huh?:

"What This Can Do for Growth

I have no regression to present to you but this much I can say out of experience and intuition.
If this tax plan goes through, the entire class of entrepreneurs, investors, and merchants will receiving a loud signal: this country is safe for you to realize your dreams and make the dreams of others come true.

It wouldn’t surprise me to see GDP growth go from an anemic 1-2% to reach 4% and higher in one year."

Intuition? Evidence/data would be better. I agree with him that this will provide a boost to the economy but not for the reasons he's saying. The gains will come from the personal income tax cuts which will stimulate private spending and the attendant increase in demand will encourage business investment. The high end and corporate tax cuts don't have as much impact because the wealthy have a lower marginal propensity to spend and businesses will largely plough their increased profits back into share buy-backs as they've been doing for the last 5+ years.
Overall this will blow-out the fiscal deficit even further which like Reagan before him will make Trump the biggest Keynesian US president of the last 30 years.

Reducing the tax on corporate profits from 35% to 15% will help keep companies in America and make it attractive for other corporations to open shop there.

you're basically referring to an accounting entry. Corporations typically set up administrative offices with a handful of staff in low tax countries eg Ireland so that they can shift all of their operational profits that they earn in the US to that domain. It won't have a big impact on jobs.

How low do you want taxes to go? At some point you have to decide whether you want the govenrment to provide basic services or if you're an anarchist.

If governments could limit themselves to providing basic services, no one would ever become an anarchist.

And now for some comedy relief....

Want proof that the world has gone mad?

Introducing the Ring Dinger Chiropractic Technique....

You truly cannot make this up. Look at 1:50 and 2:43. Thet look like they're in more pain after. How does this guy still have a license? The most amazing part is that he gets a bunch of people in Houston calling in for appointments after seeing him try to rip people's heads off like this.

And he wonders why the medical examiner's board wants to limit direct access to people like him?

Here he talks about a female wrestlers nicest "ass-et" @ 6:38 while adjusting her culo and vagina, the asking for people to send him money for autographs of her that he will send to the "board" to fight the evil medical establishment. Funny and sad at the same time.

Snake oil salesmen like him actually help the pharmaceuticals maintain more control over the sort of care you have available because they provide an alternative that is much much worse. Crazy quack.

@Rossonero23 are there a lot of quacks like this in Texas?

    Sure but that's a fantasy.

Government's typically look after their own bureacrats and wealthy benefactors first and then if we're lucky they'll do something for us. That's why I would change the statement above to:

"If governments could at least provide basic services, no one would ever become an anarchist."

From talking on these boards for so long and especially to the Clinton people at P & CE I've come to realise that people either don't care or can rationalise corruption as long as their personal situation isn't too problematic. But when the fvckers in power get too greedy and the average joe can no longer put bread on the table that's when all hell breaks loose.

lol and if you're unlucky ( or lucky depending on how you look at it ) enough not to have your insurance cover it then it it will cost you about 50 bucks a pop ( literally )

those guys even try to sell you on these group meetings before they continue where they fully explain the benefits of chiropractory to the people in the meeting all so the people can fully understand how it works and what they should be doing to facilitate their results. Some of these quacks also make you get xrays ( absolutely worthless for an accurate diagnosis of the back unless it's an MRI ) and do other cheap tricks to either bolster the amount they can either charge your insurance or you should your insurance not cover.

it's a sham.....learn to crack your own back

That's very true. So why do you want to give them more money? A corporate tax of 15% from 35% is a good start.

I'm in favor of a smaller more efficient government. Not of the bloated wasteful one we have now. So less revenue would force them to be more efficient.

Look at the faces at some of the people he's tried to rip the heads off of. Crazy.

I recently read a paper in the journal of biomechanics written by an ex-chiro who called the whole field a sham, explaining and the high velocity cracks they deliver causes shock to the joint and the body releases pain chemicals (endorphin) in response to cull the effects of the trauma. This is commonly the temporary relief people get. It also causes micro trauma to supporting structures that in turn causes more muscle spasm and creates a nice dependency in the patient, or what that whack job calls his crack addicts. Not making that up. Bizarre that people would risk their necks like that.

@Pietro Calcio just get your woman to take a weekend massage course ;) or go down to the local "shiatsu" parlour (if you're not married of course) :D

I use this thing after a long bike ride, 2-3 minutes and done:

You're making a naive assumption. Starving the beast won't make it any less corrupt. The money they forego from taxes will come out of spending on social programs.

For example, the tax take in the US has been on a downward trajectory since the 80s. Have the washington elites become less well off, the 1%, their mates in big pharma and the MIC? Meanwhile infrastructure is collapsing, pensions are being cut etc.

Which brings me back to my original point which was that you either fix the problem through reform or you scrap the whole thing (anarchy).
