Wow ... I don't even know where to start. That article is oozing with assumptions and unproven assertions. Let's just start with the basic premises.

There is no such consensus. If you want to assert that there is consensus, please provide data to back it up. And the criticism isn't "evidence of political corruption." For many the criticism is much softer than that. It's not necessarily blatant corruption, just poor taste and reinforcing the bad habits of Washington culture.

Again. It's not about bribes. Inform yourself about how this system works. More than 50% of retiring Congressmen go into some sort of lobbying/consulting work after retirement. See Haley Barbour, Evan Bayh etc ... You start cashing in after. Even if a politician's intentions are pure, who's to say that some politicians don't vote with an eye to the future lobbying firm they plan to cash in with? I can bring data to the table if we want to dive into this issue deeper. There has been studies that have shown that there is only about a 30% correlation between the opinions of constituents and the votes taken by their representatives.

Rewriting of history. Every single Bernie rally involved talking about racial injustice. Every single one! Whether it was criminal justice reform, investment in inner cities, expanding access to higher education etc ... Maybe this is a product of Bernie getting the least media coverage of all the major candidates. But really the bigger problem here is people on both sides of the left being manipulated by nefarious fake news agendas from Russia and other right sources. The same way they pushed the buttons of progressives by exaggerating Hillary's problems, they pushed the buttons of moderates by exaggerating Bernie's problems. To equate Bernie's platform to the far right basically means you fell into the trap. The truth is that Bernie would have never betrayed minority communities in this country as a president.

Again. Please bring data to the table if you're going to make wild assertions like this. Again this is falling into the division trap. You take the very worst examples of Bernie's supporters and extrapolate it onto all of his supporters. Here's the facts : The majority of the progressive left in this country voted for Obama and Hillary. They probably would have voted for Obama for a 3rd term. You're seeing enemies where there aren't any. Don't get hung up on the fringe. Treat people on the fringes the way they deserve to be treated. By not giving them a disproportionate amount of attention.

I'd like to see a link to whoever said this. I haven't seen anyone say this. My memory of Bush and Clinton's post presidencies also included the same criticisms. In fact it was one of the reasons people were skeptical of Clinton. The way she bounced back and forth between public service and cashing in from speaking fees.

    Again, links?

It's unclear whether a 2 hour speech can be classified as "work", but let's just leave it at that.

To equate investing in Wall Street and getting a personal paycheck for a little schmoozing is silly. Let's not even go there. Bernie was the only major candidate that stayed true to his no super pac pledge. His family's combined net worth is barely into the 7 figures which is not out of line for a married couple with two long careers. I think Martin O'Malley and Marco Rubio are the only other candidates who could claim to be less wealthy and closer to the middle class.

Again ... don't fall for the trap. I live in ground zero of Bernie country. My city is also a nearly perfect copy of the national demographics ... 58% white, 19% black, 12% Hispanic, 6% Asian, 2% American Indian, ... His success had very little to do with "white working class" here. It had everything to do with youth and it was a true rainbow coalition. I'm not going to claim that Bernie didn't have shortcoming with minority communities. But this is more a reflection on Bernie's personal shortcomings, and not the progressive left in general. On the street in a city like mine there is no animosity against minorities in the progressive left. It is literally the exact opposite. Don't fall for the trap that tries to divide us!

Again, link? His focus is on all the working class. Stop trying to inject things that aren't there. There is no evidence that Bernie is trying to exclude or undermine minorities in his struggle for the working class.

I'm sorry if I'm being a bit harsh on this article. I'm not even necessarily a Bernie fan. In my mind the page is already turning and in the near future the progressive left will evolve beyond Bernie. I just get frustrated when factions on the left attack each other without a grounding in facts and reason. I will defend the Heidi Heitkamps and Joe Manchins of the world from the fringe Bernie people just as much as I'll defend Bernie from unreasonable and non factual attacks from the center.

Not only do I believe prostitution should be legal, but I also believe that the prostitutes should be well taken care of by a Union who looks out for their best health interests in a similar fashion to what the prostitutes in Holland have.

The laughable part is the fact that someone would go to the White House and give an ok sign. Maybe a thumbs up, but no one is giving the ok sign unless there is so,e story. The random ok story is so bad.

Are these "so many" here on BigSoccer? Can you name them?

I can think of two posters who are both pro-choice and anti-sex work. One I'm sure is. Surely you have more than that, else you'd have never bothered posting.

I'd like to know what each one of these assholes who are whining to Pelosi, "Why didn't you stop them?" would do.

She ain't got the votes, largely because a bunch of people can't be bothered to turn out to vote in midterm elections and in state legislative elections.

There's been quite a bit of talk of late on how Bernie was boosted by the botnet/troll farm crew - Fairbanks being the most obvious.

Not saying Bernie is in bed with Russia but I suspect he was used by them and now continues to be boosted.

It's amazing the extent to which it is being reveal that UKIP, Stein, AfD, Le Pen etc etc are all to various degrees supported or funded out of Russia

Not that this is anything new.

Go back to the 70s and 80s and the USSR was routinely funding or boosting all kinds of german political groups

So now we discover that one of the worst Bernie Bros is RIS

It should be troubling to anyone to think that the Russians could have this much influence on the global political landscape. Imagine losing the Cold War to Russia because they played the long con, bought into capitalism, then used that capitalism to buy global governments. And while it's about power for Putin, it's mostly about money for Putin and his cronies. This has nothing to do with ideology at all. That's what is most troubling about this - Who are the rich people who will put aside making themselves richer to fight a wealthy dictator? I just don't see anyone standing up for that.

Jeff stein blamed Pelosi for Trumpcare somehow. Dem party is always to blame and real enemy.

Obama is out of office but he can't make money? Is he to be a hermit and do things for free from this time forward. It is bullshit! The Yorbamate party are not about being democrats at all.

I don't believe Bernie addressed minority community issues. He did get support from Spike and Cornell but the problem really are his supporters are in your face dicks and they up the ante and have a weird demand for purity.

I voted for the guy twice. What more do you want?

I really don't care, and was glad to see him weigh in on France, but is Wall Street really good for optics?
