Love how you can hear the Moeno chant when she scores that beauty Sonoda's case kinda reminds me of Yokoyama when she played for Belle. I guess its too early to say, but Albi probably isn't the best place for her. Ito hasn't been the same since her injury
Frankfurt lost 1:5 to Wolfsburg with Nagasato on the pitch for the entire game. Essen won 1:0 over Sand. Ando played for 90 minutes and was subbed out in extra time.
According to the report of some spectator, Urawa seems to have overwhelmed Beleza in the first half. "Beleza was able to do nothing but kicking long balls forwards because of Urawa's high pressure. After Naomoto's shot hit the bar, Momiki suddenly scored with an unexpected lob shot, and then TanaMina scored with a bicycle kick..."
Re...Man City v Lyon....was at the game on Saturday just because it was a chance to see our captain live and as well as that I live 10 mins from the stadium.A fair summary would be to say that LYON played like the home team.In the first half City were only able to get out of their own half for no more than 10 mins.Lyon were stringing together 23 passes...14 passes...10 passes etc etc while City managed only 7 yes 7 passes in the entire game.OUTCLASSED does not cover situation.Saki had a solid game unruffled under pressure as usual. It was interesting to see her in her Lyon role i.e. not at the back as opposed to her Nadeshiko role.City to make a comeback....they have more chance of being struck by lightning. If you want to see Lyon in Cardiff in the final you can buy your advance ticket with confidence.Took a load of pictures and video of Saki and Lyon during the warm up.Will post them soon. Well thats my 10 cents worth for what its worth..or should I say 10 pence worth. I will get the hang of this posting soon. Thanks for putting up with my ramblings.Reards to all you proper posteroonies.
While we wait for Manchester Nadeshiko's pics: short highlights with Saki's PK : https://www.mancity.com/citytv/matc...ampions-league-match-highlights/1492886095908
Frankfurt should sack Matt Ross (and bench Bartusiak). He's working the team for weeks for Nagasato to be playmaker and then before the big game he's switching her back to forward only cuz Islacker was unavailable. I mean really? Frankfurt's to big a firm to end up like Duisburg few years back but as well without their international players they're plain average.
Seattle is full of perfectly bi-lingual English/Japanese speakers.. I don't know why the Reign always get this lady to to the translations, she is pretty average (at best..).
You're right, the translator is incredibly poor : she didn't even pay attention to the long questions of the Japanese-speaking journalist and to Rumi's subsequent articulate answers. I am aware that Japanese language is rich of so to speak "filler words" (or, to be more linguistics-aware, "phatic expressions"), but I can't believe that she always shortens so much everything Japanese players say... And consider that Rumi and Naho probably speak a decent english anyway, by now. Do you remember the anecdote I had told you about my trip to Algarve last month? I had said to Mike (and not actually out loud): "Oh, I missed Utsugi again!" and Rumi had heard, had perfectly understood what I had said at a quite low tone of voice from a distance of about ten steps, and had turned back to me to sign an autograph! Also, look at the video below, Kawasumi's interview from yesterday's match also: it's obvious that Naho understands everything about the questions that are spelled in english and doesn't need any translation: I guess she's just a little step away from being able to answer herself in english also. By the way, in the interview they refer again to the chance Nahomi had to throw the first pitch at the baseball game: apparently it was a bigger deal than I thought.
I'd like a comment from And G about Naoko Wada! She sure stands out... Also, it seems to me that GK Genoviève Richard did her best to learn the language (her speech looked ok, apart from some hesitions and an "arigato gozaimashita" instead of an "arigato gozaimasu" ). Did I somehow miss Michelle Pao or wasn't she there with the rest of the team?
Rumi I hope I can make it to a Reign's game at some point. Detroit is so far from any of the US clubs...
There were only two comments on YouTube and both were about how mediocre the translator was. One mentioned that she seemed "sleep deprived"! Also, both Utsugi and Kawasumi must be fairly comfortable with understanding English, if not actually speaking the language. They did not seem to need translations for the English language questions.
Oh, a photo of Sawa's baby! We can't see her face, though (and it's a shame that we keep not knowing her name). It's incredible how a celebrity in Japan can manage to be so secretive about her privacy. In contrast, we know about everything about Sydney Leroux's child in USA, since the mother even post monthly birthday photos!
You can say that! Nobody knew that male player Honda (from Milan) was married and have a child till last year and the kid has about 3 or 4 years old
!!! What a heck of a goal Yui Narumiya scored! A replay was due even in a YouTube video with no replays! If we were still running the Goal of the Week chart on this thread, this would hands down win the competition for the week and for the entire month (and could surely have a word for the whole season). These are the kind of things why I would like Narumiya being given a chance in NT by Takakura. I am aware that she always lacked continuity at high level in her career, but having this kind of player out of international football is such a waste! Shoko Chino's goal was a technical beauty on his own, although some levels below Narumiya's pearl. The duel with Yokoyama would have been so enjoyable to watch, but it looked like Kumi was hamstrung this sunday: some shots, but quite all out of target... It looks like JEF players were escorted on the pitch by one of their youth teams (one of the player even had a broken arm): which age-class was it? Any special reason why they did that? Also, who's the guy posing with the starting 11 at about 0':07" in the video? I don't think it can be the coach, since JEF should be one of the few Division1's teams with a female coach, if I remember correctly. It looks like the "somersault" routine at the end of the game is being a lucky charm to JEF. And Shoko Chino even learned to execute it correctly!
