Don't watch European football so much anymore but hasn't this guy failed practically everywhere since Liverpool?

Yes.. he's a mediocre manager. Will probably keep the Geordies afloat but nothing more.

He's an above average manager. English managers are mediocre.

He got a lot of jobs he shouldn't have based on reputation. He's a good coach but certainly not a great coach. And he'll be fine in the Premier League with the dearth of domestic coaching talent in England...

He did relatively good at Napoli... He won the Coppa Italia, and the Supercup against Juventus.

He also brought players like Mertens, Callejón, Albiol, Koulibaly, Higuaín, Jorginho, Reina, as well as integrating players like Insigne...

He kind of built this new Napoli after Cavani and Lavezzi left...

Probably not now but I rate him higher than any coach we've had in recent memory. I'm withholding Osorio from that group... Jury is still out.

Rofl, we've been doing fine not winning anything on our own...:D

Besides, I think those duses wearing Cruz Azul with Bayern and then Madrid were hoping to get rid of their curse by passing it to teams that actually win shit...

Not many of these current or former top club coaches have coached NTs. Same sport but different animals...

It would be cool to see what Mourinho, Pep, Ancelotti, Wenger, would do with an NT.

They would all mostly prefer to coach their own nation's NT, except for Pep.. he wants to coach Brasil/Arg/Mexico (from rumors  ) until the Catalans get their own NT. Barca wanted Wenger I heard..

I thought Wenger would have gotten the England job after it opened up a while back.

He already managed Greece and failed miserably, with an embarrassing loss at home against Faroe Islands in the process...

Like you said: "Same sport but different animals..."

Some managers are simply not a proper fit for national teams such as Ranieri, Benítez, etc...
Ranieri even acknowledged it was a mistake to manage Greece...

That's why Mourinho has never managed Portugal, nor is he interested in the job. He knows if he fails, the Portuguese people that love him for his accomplishments, will end up loathing him... It's a entirely different environment.

JCO has done reasonably good considering he never managed a national team before... The only thing that bothers everyone is the constant rotations... Although I get it, he wants all the players to feel important and play at the same time. He wants to create harmony and a very closed and solid group. I certainly don't blame him for that...

Monchi left Sevilla as Sporting Director to take the job at Roma...

He is responsible for singlehandedly building up Sevilla and keeping them competitive despite losing their best players year after year after year on limited budgets...

It probably won't effect Sevilla immediately but I can see them dropping out of yearly CL contention after a few seasons.

    Are you talking about Markarian?

EDIT: My bad. It was Ranieri. Not sure why I thought it was Markarian...
