It has reached the point where I can recognize the spammers by their usernames and threads they choose.
Don't know. It seems to me it's been a while that the "Coming Back Soon" message has been up there. No tweets since January. No FB activity since March.
$405, to be exact: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/united-states-association-football-leagues I didn't realize there was a video on there. Love the line at 2:14 where they claim to be self-sufficient by year two. ...found an even better line on the video, at 2:04, where they want to create a "prizes" fund.
And their own founder kicked in some of that, so it's actually less. As of tomorrow, it'll be 90 days since their last Facebook post. It's been more than five months since their last tweet. Their website has said "We're Coming Back Soon" for a while now.
A month and a day since the last check-in. Still nothing. (Though they did make a Facebook post on July 11 about some team Not Sucking Quite Enough To Get Relegated and how incredible that is to watch!)
https://www.facebook.com/usprorel/posts/1010035799018441 "Forging new league and competitions starting in 2016-17...Grass Roots level with our first signed team Sandy Springs FC!" (Team #1 down; 119 to go?)
Who you figure Sandy Springs FC is going to play? Maybe they're angling to be the NPSL's pro/rel partner.
In a related story, I stumbled upon some fool attempting to troll USL's FB page (some crap about "points not playoffs"). As dumb luck would have it, this fool happens to be the coach of Sandy Springs FC.
Is this what you're saying, Sal? (but, honestly, did Dan Logan have to take the bait?) https://www.facebook.com/USLSoccer/...63314.231957960220045/909254465823721/?type=1 the comments: Hooli J Broome How do you have that many teams ? Why don't you just play NFL ? Footie is settled on points not playoffs ... except for promotion ... but there's no promotion. Stupid. 1 · 3 hrs Dan Logan This is hilarious coming from the coach of an amateur team. Good luck with the USAFL ... 1 · 1 hr Hooli J Broome Who says we play in that ? We will have to buy into the ridiculous system like everyone else. Doesn't make it right and doesn't remove my ability to criticize what I see as wrong ... your hilarious for not demanding better. Lol 43 mins
So... the coach of the US-AFL's alleged first team denies that the team's playing in the US-AFL. Sounds like a brilliant start for the league.
They posted on the 23rd that they were going to re-launch their website "next week." Guess how many days ago that was, boys and girls? These guys have almost as many clues as they have clubs.
While I cannot disagree with the assessment that Sandy Springs looks to have a good shot a the title, they also look to be in danger of relegation. The upside, of course, is that the following year they would be promoted out of league two back to the rarified air of one (and again be title favorites). Sadly, they would simultaneously be relegated to the third...
I think we need a new term. They'd be prolegated to a new division, where they'd again be the only team.
Wow. It's been a year and a half since anyone thought this league was worth talking about? Imagine that. Anyway, their URL has changed (USAFL.com now redirects to www.usabalompie.com for some reason) and they claimed to have these leagues under their umbrella: Liga Latinoamericana in Arizona Liga Estudiantes del Guayas and Miami Beach Soccer League in Florida New Caribbean Soccer League and Hammond Cup in Georgia Liga Latinoamericana in Missouri Texas International Soccer in Texas They're all in the 3rd division. There are no 1st or 2nd divisions. They have not tweeted since last June 24. Its last Facebook post was last May 23. So the info above about their leagues may be outdated as well. Amazing that these leagues, with their promise of promotion and relegation, could not get off the ground.
"balompie" apparently is Spanish for football / soccer: http://www.spanishdict.com/translate/balompie
