FYI. I went to the stadium "showroom" and was told that the clear panels on the roof would, indeed, be filled with some sort of plexiglass. They guys there believed it would not be open to the elements a la San Jose.
or Chicago. The last home match is what happens when it rains at RFK. You would think they would not want to make that a thing in the new venue. Someone was down at the construction site yesterday to see if they could be seen on the webcam. The camera is a bit precariously located on a telephone/electric pole that leans a bit. A few people were moving dirt. I might post pictures of nothing later.
The environment matters for this site more than the PEPCO site that actually borders a neighborhood or anything else down there like concrete. I have read all of the articles, diagrams, and captions before, but it wasn't until now that I processed that the retail is on the river side. It will still be interesting to see how that building is transformed.
I had a comment written about how the sky is bluer now, but you're getting the same stuff with the time stamp after the tag too. It's updating eventually since BS no longer copies the image onto their own server.
The pics are live ... I watched over a few mins yesterday afternoon and could see what look like concrete mixers coming and going (or should I say, appearing and disappearing ) in the left third of the field of view - in front of that mobile drilling rig.
This is like one of those magazine games where you have to find five differences between two seemingly identical drawings. I hate those. This is DCU's idea of stadium p*rn? Imagine watching the real thing via still shots every 30 minutes. I'd like to post this "live" construction webcam on my thread comparing DC, LA and Minny stadium construction but am ashamed to.
Each time a picture is posted here, it is the same URL posted previously. So any picture posted here, whether 5 minutes ago or 5 days ago, are the same. The URL will have the most updated shot and that will also show on this thread.
I was thinking about the location of the camera again while going back and looking at photos and plans for the site. I was thinking about how the "groundbreaking" probably wasn't even part of the plazas that are considered the stadium footprint. Likewise, the camera location will eventually become obstructed by the forgotten retail building that is at the southeast corner of the property.
I can't match the webcasts of the new stadium for pure excitement, but there was a website at one time of the 4 corners boundary marker with a GPS next to it- Title?? Continental Drift Cam.
I'm obviously the kind of person who would watch that (we're all fans of United here). The site now goes to a generic Viagra sales website.
The Kool Aide dosage necessary to keep one devoted varies with the individual, There's a thin somewhat indistinct line between United fandom and masochism
Is someone capturing all these 30-minute update pics so a time-lapse movie can be made when Audi Field is done, or are we assuming that the FO is on top of this already? P.S. what's the deal with the new "dream-catcher" Big Soccer logo?
