If you hate ads now, get ready for it to get even worse. Republicans have just voted to allow your internet providers to sell your information to the highest bidders. That can include anything from browsing history, very personal details regarding your health, to your exact location. Any shred of privacy you once had will soon be gone and everything will be open to the entire world. Thank you GOP.
Teenage armed robbers’ last sight on Earth was a 23-year-old with an AR-15 One of the suspects had a knife and another had brass knuckles. A 23-year-old man, the son of the homeowner, awoke to the sounds of the burglary and grabbed an AR-15. Two of the teenage burglars were shot dead in kitchen, while a third died in the driveway. A fourth suspect behind the wheel of the getaway car, 21-year-old Elizabeth Rodriguez, has turned herself in......http://rare.us/rare-news/teenage-armed-robbers-last-sight-on-earth-was-a-23-year-old-with-an-ar-15/
yeah , because the gop is the only party that has ever engaged in these type of actions....over the last decade or so aren't you used to this by now? god you really are a tool
EVERYBODY already does this. Your bank, Facebook, I'm sure even Bigsoccer. Even if you use a points card for anything like a Shoppers Drug Mart card or a grocery card, that information is sold to third party marketers. It's called "data mining" and it's a multi-billion dollar a year industry.
Actually it was Obama and the Democrats who had specifically put rule in place to stop internet providers from doing this. And now it's the Republicans who are selling out to their corporate masters. Better to be a tool, than just completely ignorant on every topic that Fox News doesn't feed me. You can easily switch browsers or websites. Switching internet providers is not exactly easy to do and is costly. And internet providers have such a monopoly on certain areas, you may actually have no choice at all even if you wanted to switch. This was the last barrier protecting your privacy. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-39427026 https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/29/...-sold-your-privacy-to-internet-providers.html
Literally all manner of communication is tracked whether you're using different browsers or not. This isn't anything new. The government already has access to your messages and emails. Facebook and Google already sell your meta data to corporations. You're ********ing cell phone is listening to your conversations and tailoring ads based on what it hears. There are algorithms that can predict whether you're getting divorced based on credit card purchase. The privacy ship sailed a loooooooong time ago. This is nothing more than ISP's getting in on the action. The most that your life will be affected by this story is that you'll see a new ad where the old one was. Face it there is literally no stopping this. Big Brother is here and Trump is merely carrying the torch where Obama left off. It's hilarious that liberals suddenly give a shit about internet privacy when most of this intrusion happened under Bush/Obama. If you want a real solution you can just cut down internet use and get real friends
who watches fox news ? btw your posting history indicates you're ignorant enough already. you're really quick to react to MS news and you're easily triggered by it like the useful idiot you are ....only jk Precisely
The government is spying, but it isn't selling that information. Not that it makes it any better, but it's an entirely different argument to this one. Up until now you had ways of avoiding your private data history from being exploited to the world. Now that ends purely because Republicans are cashing out. Obama at least fought for what little net neutrality we had left. Now the current crop of politicians are working to kill it off completely.
What a surprise. Another post with no substance and all drivel. Having to resort to buzz words like triggering rather than presenting any kind of rebuttal.
are these the same types of algorithms they use to choose who can or cannot be a BS moderator? Sal must have been crossed out a week or so after joining
Supporting Hillary Honestly I'm far from an Obama fan. In most ways he's no different than Bush. But so far this current administration has been so terrible that it's making the last crop of thieves look bearable
How what? Regarding the current leadership? If you want just the failures you have Trumpcare. That really should have been a slam dunk, but Republicans still somehow managed to completely screw that up and screw over Americans in the process. Then you have Trump's tax plan which is such a mess that it may never get passed. His travel ban has been halted. And there are still a lot of key positions that haven't even been filled yet that needed to be before the inauguration. Then you have the EPA being gutted in favor of corporate interests over the public. The issue I raised above about our privacy being put further into risk for again, corporate interests. Abandoning clean energy in favor of a near-dead coal industry that is never coming back. Planning to slash science programs, such as ones involving medical research, so more money can be dumped into the military. So far this administration has been almost nothing but negative. Even if you don't agree with the issues I raised above, it's hard to deny that so far it isn't looking too promising just based on the actions.
Well you don't know what the government is doing with your data. You're argument was that we have no internet privacy, but you haven't had it in years. That fact that you need to avoid certain search engines and use proxies just to hide your digital foot print is proof of that. As for Obama, he was a proponent for the TPP. So any illusion of him being the standard bearer for internet freedom can go out the window. Besides, I don't why anyone with a status quo life and status quo behavior has to worry about their internet privacy. Liberals are the establishment. You'll be fine. If anything it's dissident rightests and nationalists like me who should be freaking out. In some ways I like the idea of people being so turned off from the internet and phones that they can go back to living happy lives without any of this garbage.
