    6 points!!!

    Back in the driver seat!

My only gripe: if you told me that we had a 1-man advantage, I wouldn't have believed you. I would like to see some killer instinct in these kind of situations.

Happy with how we all played today. Fingers crossed that our boys remain healthy and have a safe summer.

For those players who have been lagging in playing time, they need to find a club this off season that will give them regular playing time

Come August we will have to continue to control our own destiny. Mathematically anything can happen. It's far from over

Enjoy the win guys! Loved the banter with you all these past two games :)

big win. Its time to man up and be the team we are supposed to be. This is a good step, might be the most important match of the qualifiers.

    Ospina - picking daisies 6.5

Arias - tenacious as always 7.0

Mina - I think we have our new commanding CB, the best teams always have at least one. 7.5

Zapata - really shut me up since he's been back from injury. His presence has become more absolute. 7.0

Diaz - Little guy vs BIG guy. He went up against one of the strongest men in football and he didn't give up, bravo. 7.0

Sanchez - Nothing has to be said, Pure beast at CDM/CM. 8.5 did he give up one pass?

Aguilar - We are a different team with Aguilar, the guy is so calm, clean, silky, one of my favorites on the squad. (still can't believe he didn't start against brazil in 2104 WC, i know its been 3 years!) 8.0

Cuadrado - I sometimes get annoyed of him trying to much, be he is always an asset. A stalwart on the team. Did get the second :) 7.0

James - James is James 7.5

Cardona - some decent passes 6.0

Borja - nice movement, great pass. 7.0

    Subs:
Torres - the future Aguilar. 6.0
    Uribe - not impressed 5.5
Bacca - uneventful few minutes. N/A

Good breakdown - maybe harsh, but Bacca should be known as "pie frío" he looked confused when he subbed in. I'm over him. I want him to prove me wrong.

Dani Torres was a solid sub. Had one bad give away but I like his style of play.

Yerry Seinfeld is a beast. He did have that foul that led to the free kick, but between him, O/J Murillo and zapata I am quite happy with our CBs for many years to come (plus Davinson)

Uribe - he's not terrible but he didn't have that same spark we saw in the Brazil friendly. I'm not against him playing in future friendlies, but his role could be in question if Quintero, Perez, Barrios, Celis, Mejía, etc get back on track

Farid - good job today. I wonder how armero fits in with the long term plan. Fabra is well liked at Boca but with NT, not so much.

Good game, they should have been more clinical when up a man and put the game out of reach. Pekerman nailed the formation and players, they really looked good and I think he was saving some players for that game figuring they could get Bolivia without Abel and Cardona starting.

Mina is looking like he's going to be one of the best CB's in the world, he can do everything, pass, great in the air, defends well and always seems composed. He's going to be a very good player for a very long time, crazy to see a CB look that good at such a young age.

Cardona and Abel were key, we need that passing and vision from midfield, it frees up James to roam into space and they are good enough to find him, James being free to attack space lead to both goals. Its imperative that we play every game with that link between the lines, we can't go without both Abel and Cardona, the double pivot is too disjointed.

Also Argentina were complete shit, Bauza is such a joke of a coach, hope they don't fire him! No messi for the next 3 games will hurt them, if they get a decent coach they have enough to win 2/3 easily, but they are in disarray right now and we are going in the right direction, especially considering we haven't had Falcao play much at all. We have pulled ourselves out of the fire and need to keep building on that patient passing and movement.

Pardon the self quote...I gotta point out how wrong I was.

Borja was a boss today. The guy took a beating all game long and was essential for several of our counters. Getting that kind of performance from your striker allows our attacking trio to really shine. I'm sad he didn't do better with that chance he had towards the end of the game.

Who would have thought that we had a chance to win this game. I wasn't very optimistic, but Pekerman proved me wrong. I still think that the NT should play in another city, the heat has stopped being an advantage for the team because most of these guys don't play in environments similar to that.

My MOTM is between James and Borja. James was in most of our attacks and Borja is only lacking the goals, he fought and played with great passion the whole game, reminded me a bit of Falcao (minus the goals).

Hopefully in the next games none of these guys is injured and if we're lucky, some of the other kids that must be under consideration, like Marlos, Sebas Perez and Izquierdo finally get a good streak of games with their clubs to give them confidence for the next qualifiers.

Not Barranquillas fault that Pekerman doesn't attack. We played much much worse when we went a man up. I got excited thought we were going to light up Ecuador..... but Pekerman isn't aggressive enough. If he wanted to go to keep the lead but why not give Bacca and some more attacking players a bit more confidence. Maybe not his fault that Torres doesn't have good match fitness and completely lost the MF when he came in. Again.... SCOUT !!!! Sucks Torres, Celis, Barrios, Perez all went to new teams and all went straight to the bench. That affected the NT.... but how many Colombians are there ? 45-50 million? How many play in the Colombian league and actually Play? Do your job.

I know a third goal would have been great but I'm glad we kept our 2 goal advantage. Add the minus 2 for Argentina, this is a great result for us today. Plus 4 goal advantage to both Ecuador and Argentina. You really can't ask for more!

Now if only Uruguay losses later, lol.

Come on crzd, you wanted him out despite winning (horribly but winning) against Bolivia, and despite the fact that he tries to bring some new blood into the team (Uribe, Quiñones,Borja, Zapata) you keep saying that the guy doesn't do his job... Maybe his tactics aren't as bold as before, maybe because we lack the speed in the flanks that we had before, or because our players aren't in good form, etc. Who knows. The only thing I know for certain is that the players believe in him, and that is something that is incredibly important for the cohesion of a team.

Who would you have called for the midfield, James Sanchez? Lerma? Cuellar? He is bringing some guys little by little, you can't just start a whole new pair of midfielders and hope that everything goes well, he plays the guys that he knows are able to play well together.

Same as the US Copa America.... 10 good minutes we score a couple goals and then mindless the rest of the game..... the at the end begging for the end of the game. He needs to be more aggressive. If they had scored in the 90th minutes 45 million people would have shit their pants. We can't just allow ourselves to blow leads. He made 3 bad subs. I am just happy I didnt see Macnelly today :)

We should have had another goal, we created enough chances and should have created more. We need that killer instinct and we need to keep exploiting space whenever its there, and it was there a ton in the 2nd half. I think its more a confidence thing since we've been so inconsistent and poor overall for a while, that said its better to lock up the win and not pour to many men forward and build on the momentum over time. Hopefully they'll use this game and the last few to play a little more loose.

I was having my doubts about pekerman going into this game but he definitely regained a lot of the goodwill that had worn off the past 2 years.

My biggest gripe was the lack of killer instinct when we were 11 v 10.

In any case, we still have things to fine tune but we are back on track.

    Looking forward to August!
