That list is much longer. Ben Swanson (Wake) immediately comes to mind.

Given how little he played at UVa last fall, that sure reads like "failed to stay academically eligible."

Maybe a bit of an ask but is anyone familiar with Brotherton? Sunderland is a pretty big move, even if I'm sure he won't play any time soon

Norman signed a USL deal with Whitecaps 2 rather than a HG deal with the MLS club.

Louro initially signed a HG deal but was released and later signed a USL deal with NYRB II.

That's some serious hardball by the Red Bulls. It's one thing to sign and then cut a four-year "Homegrown" college player before the season starts, but Louro had another season left and I assume could no longer return after signing the first deal.

It might be more beneficial for the kids to sign USL deals. Likely more flexibility to move on. Once you're under MLS contract you're enslaved to them. Someone always owns your rights. I'm just guessing on this as I don't truly know.

We could discuss the matter all day and not resolve it. Obviously people at certain stages in their careers would prefer longer guarantees. Others might prefer more flexibility. In any case, my main point was not so much about the length or content of the deal (about which I know nothing) but rather that it's interesting that NYRB pulled him out of college with a HG offer while he still had eligibility remaining and then moved him to a USL deal before the season began. I'm not aware of too many cases of that happening.

Definitely something to take note of. Could be kid got hoodwinked, or it could be it was better for him. If he got screwed, he should fire his agent.

One could argue it's semantics. If the salaries are similar - and we don't know - and the club plans on moving him back up in a year or two, then being on the USL roster isn't that big a deal as that's where he'd likely have played anyway.

Still, MLS, which already has a reputation for shenanigans, needs to be careful here. If kids - and their parents and agents - don't trust the process, it reduces the incentives to leave school early or commit to an academy program.

Every player needs to look at the situation for himself. Robles - has been GK of the year. Potentially, USMNT GK in the future. Then, Ryan Meara as the backup - who has done well helping NYRB II to the championship. Did he really think that he was going to beat these 2 out?

He wasn't even a very good GK at Michigan... But every team needs four or five GKs for the two teams... Pretty sure he knew he wasn't going to be with the first team...

I don't have any inside info on Evan's contract or negotiations or expectations. But he was a very good college keeper for the Wolverines. Go Blue!

He was a very average goalkeeper while at Michigan.

There's nothing (that I can find) official yet but based on the tweets of a respected soccer journalist and a college teammate of the player in question, it appears UCSB Jr. F Ahinga Selemani has forsaken his senior season to sign with Greek first division (they call it the SuperLeague) club Panetolikos.

Selemani, a former US YNT player, was first team all Big West last fall.
