Man City being out of Europe can only help their league form. I'm pretty sure it is some combo of Tottenham and Man City. Liverpool are really good when they face the better teams, but they're trash when they play lower level teams. That isn't a good thing when they are in a league with more lower level teams than higher level teams. Man United I just don't see it happening for them at this point. Too far behind, too inconsistent. Same goes for Arsenal. They might catch Liverpool though.
I see those 3 spots as Spurs (who have a squad that is talented and have been playing together for more than 1 season), City and Liverpool. United's divisive coach is a big problem. I don't see how Spurs would miss out. But getting back to the point, I don't see them having a chance to get Dahoud regardless. I kind of wish Arsenal did make it to 4th because they don't like to spend and don't compete for our players which United and City do. Liverpool have more funds despite being without CL football.
I was saying that Spurs will definitely be top 3 IMO. You said CL football isn't guaranteed at Spurs and Liverpool.
I don't think there is any chance of Dahoud choosing Liverpool or Tottenham over Dortmund. The worry is if Manchester City and Chelsea are coming in for him. Auba talking to other clubs is not a big deal. I am not saying he is going to stay, but it means nothing he spoke to other clubs. The truth is that players do this all the time. Whether Auba stays or goes will depend on how far we get in the CL and if we win the cup. He does not seem to be motivated by money just glory. I get to see the Hummels/Rudiger partnership I always dreamed Dortmund would have.
IMO what decides which team dahoud choose won't only determined by CL participation, but also chance to plays regularly and familiarity. spurs has winks, sissoko and wanyama as central midfield (alli now mostly plays as AM). beating them in coach's picking is no easy task. liverpool is full of midfielder,i started to think they only after dahoud as their collection. in BVB however,he'll have it easier to plays regularly as castro, sahin, and rode are simply worse than him, either in fitness or performance. he'll also be easier to accustomize due to same languange used. so i'm assured that IF he leaves, dortmund would be in pole position to acquire him. on other note,i also think that IF dortmund really get dahoud and toprak, there'll be no need of other signings, even if auba moves.
Even if Auba moves? If he does leave you take 1 world class striker out of the team, and replace him with nobody? Doesn't seem a very good idea, unless Dortmund are prepared to give up any chance of trophies. If Auba moves it should be for no less then €80m, and that money has to be reinvested in an elite striker.
Last night Rauball met with Paolo Sousa. He won the CL as a CDM with us. He's at Fiorentina now. Discussion could simply have been about private affairs given that he's a former player or one of Florence's strikers..........Or to sign him as a coach which would be horrifying.
Paulo Sousa along with Desailly and Eto'o are the only three players to have won back to back champions leagues with two different clubs. Hope he's not going to coach BVB though. He's a great guy and was an awesome player too.
I don't follow Serie A at all, so I can't speak to that, but, out of curiosity, why would he be a terrible choice?
He was a fantastic player. The Julian Weigl of those days. He's also a great guy. I remember reading a translated article on him being an affable personality in the dressing room. But as a coach he's sucked. His track record is awful. If he's what we are looking at then I pray we hold on to TT.
The vice chairman of the board is going on be negotiating with Paolo Sousa today. *Gulp* Fück Arsenal, I hope they extend with Wenger. Isn't there a deal already on the table?
Negotiating what? How can any proper negotiations take place when there is currently no vacancy, and Sousa is still employed by another club? Wenger leaving is by no means a certainty.
No idea what's being negotiated. I'm wondering rather why TT is waiting until the summer? Is he afraid that Dahoud won't come?
at this rate, i'd rather we focus on CONSISTENCY first than to aim for trophy. a streak of draw and losses and to get less point than a newly promoted team is kinda suck. if we to compare 14-15 season when we went hellbent signing top talent like immobile, ginter, ramos, and kagawa with 15-16 season when we "only" sign small names like burki, castro, and weigl, we can see that the main way to improve the team isn't by signing big names but by changing gameplay strategy into a better one. this point further strengthened when many other weaker (compared to us) bundesliga team earn almost the same point with us with lesser resources.leipzig are ahead of us just by signing keita from salzburg and werner from stuttgart (both names that relatively aren't known as big as they are now) and freaking hoffenheim that deploy ********ING SANDRO WAGNER as striker, earn just one less point from us (and don't bring "we play CL,they don't" excuse because if we cannot balance the team performance between those championship, then we don't deserve to be called top club). so i don't think even if we purchase lukaku, batshuayi, morata, lacazette,or other big names, our chance to fight for trophy will improve. tuchel sometimes ********ed up against opposition that on paper we have better chance to coupe 3 points,i'd rather it is addressed first than to use simplistic way of "buy the biggest name on market".
No but it is worrisome. We've already made stupid and expensive decisions like Schurrle, Rode and Toprak so there is certainly cause for concern.
I dunno if you over-estimate those other clubs' players, or underestimate Dahoud, but he'd be the best 8 on either LFC or Tottenham once he got acclimated and was used to the physicality. Alli being more physically developed would give him the advantage in the short term, but if Alli's playing further up the pitch then that isn't even an issue. I agree that the competition for PT would favor a move for BVB, although Tuchel's presence is an even better argument for joining Dortmund. He'd be a much better coach to mold Mo's further development than Klopp or Poch. Plus playing with Weigl at the club level as well as NT would be neat. Isak is a huge talent who could make strides much quicker than you expect, Dembele will win a Ballon d'Or one day, Schurrle should be a solid option in Auba's stead, and Mor should make more of an impact with a year in germany under his belt. The goals shouldn't dry up for BVB if Auba leaves but they take their midfield to a higher level by adding Dahoud.
