So we ended up in Group 1 with : Czech Republic, Croatia, Greece, Moldova, Belarus, San Marino.

Good draw, except for San Marino which we played about 2 years ago, I can't remember playing against any of these other squads recently. Should be good to see how this age group does.

The new U21 team was announced today. With a friendly set against Slovenia's U21 team on March 23 at stadion NK Nedelišće. So with no further adieu here is Nenad Gracan's new squad:

    Vratari:Josip Posavec (Palermo),Ivo Grbić (Hajduk)
CB: Duje Ćaleta-Car (RB Salzburg), Franjo Prce (Brescia),Nikola Katić (Slaven Belupo)
RB:Antonio Bosec (Inter Zaprešić), Petar Bočkaj (Lokomotiva)
    LB: Petar Mamić (Frosinone),
CM: Andrija Balić (Udinese), Ante Ćorić (Dinamo),
DM: Ivan Šunjić (Lokomotiva), Bojan Knežević (Dinamo), Kristijan Jakić (Split), Toma Bašić (Hajduk)
    RW: Robert Murić (Pescara)
AM: Nikola Vlašić (Hajduk), Ivan Fiolić (Dinamo)
    SS: Frane Vojković(Hajduk)
Napadaci: Fran Brodić (Club Brugge),Vinko Cerovec (Gent)

I can only think of Karlo Lulic(Osijek) , Marko Dabro(Cibalia), Alen Halilovic(Las Palmas) and Lorenco Simic(UC Sampdoria) not being called up. Anyhow, Gracan IMO is not a great trener . but I still look forward to the U 21 teams. As its like a revival of the entire program when the U21 team gets announced.

Their only LB option is Mamic? That's not good...
Well, Anocic isn't any better, and Sosa and Erlic are with the U19 so I guess Gracan didn't had much of a choice. But, as you said, he isn't a very good coach anyway...

Your right I forgot to mention Silvio Anocic(LB - Roma) and also Filip Benkovic( CB - Dinamo) as others that were not called up. I think that we are actually calling LB's into our U19 and U21 generations is a positive. Because the last generation that just went through had no LB. The last true LB that played for the U21's was Karlo Brucic in 2013. Its been 'krpanje' since then. With Antonio Milic(CB - Oostende), seeing lots of time there during the last qualifying cycle. I don't think it is only a LB issue. We are thin in the RB position too, with Vrsaljko going down we have no real alternative for him in the A squad. Even though Tin Jedvaj has played there some since his move to Bayer Leverkusen. And in Europe the only other RB's I can think of are Dino Mikanovic who plays for AGF in Denmark and Toni Gorupec in Vitoria Setubal(even though he has been out injured this season) in Portugal. And this list here has a couple of RB's but how good they are, I don't know.

But one player that has been converted to playing in the backfield is Mario Ticinovic who is at KSC Lokeren. He has played a few games this season as a LB. Might be someone to look at.

I should add that there is 1 other RB playing in Denmark , Karlo Bartolec is at FC Nordsjaelland. While Goran Jozinvoic is a LB at FC Lugano(but he tore his ACL in November and he won't return till next season).

Gracan talks about players who are missing and mentions how some are playing with A reprezentacija and how some are injured. But there are guys he didn't call up(Andrija Balic, Sandro Kulenovic, Robert Mudrazija etc..). But he probably can't tell you why they were not called.
My big take from this set of callups is that we have interesting potential players coming up on positions LB and DM. While we look thin in other areas like RB, CM, Keeper and Striker.
And this will translate to the NT post Euro 2020, especially in the CM where when Modric(definitely) and Rakitic(i think probably) retire from the. NT, leaving that CM position thinner.
