Not been able to post anything, for a few weeks because there has been no good news. Since my last post Argyle have played 3 games, and the record was lost, drew and win so you could say an improvement.

The loss was the 3rd in a row and it was to Morecombe away, this loss dropped Argyle to 3rd behind Doncaster and Carlisle.
The next game was the 2nd round FA Cup game at home to bottom place Newport County, Argyle entered the game missing 8 players due to injuries/suspension and cup tied, to make up the numbers 3 players were called up from the academy team. Argyle's chances looked good when Newport had a player sent off in the 23rd minute, but Argyle could not penetrate the Newport defence, so a replay was scheduled for Dec 13 at Newport. The winner of this game would be paid £27,000.
Then things got interesting the draw for the 3rd round of the FA Cup took place on Dec 5th, and the winner of the Argyle - Newport received the plumb draw away to LIVERPOOL on Jan 7.
Then BT Sport got involved wanted to broadcast the Argyle replay, but could not do it on Dec 13 so game has been rescheduled to wednesday Dec 21, also the winner of this game and plays Liverpool will also be shown on BT Sport on sunday Jan 8.
The financial windfall for this is staggering for a Div 2 side
We'll get £144,000 in TV broadcast fees if we beat Newport!
The Newport game and a win is now worth £204,000 plus gate receipts from the Anfield game.

The win was against Doncaster who were the new leaders in Div 2 a Carey goal, gave Argyle a first half lead then a Jervis penalty made it 2-0, Doncaster were awarded a penalty in the last minute which was missed and a ensuing rumble resulted in a Doncaster player being sent off.
Argyle's next game is away to Accrington on saturday

    Phew that was close

Accrington 0 Argyle 1, frustrating day for Argyle as they could'nt get anything going, boring game with most of the action in the Argyle goalmouth, but after the introduction of 3 subs, one of them Tanner managed to break the goal drought and Argyle hung on for a not convincing win, but a win is a win.

PHEEEEEEEEEEEW That was close, Newport 0 Argyle 1 after 30 mins of extra time. Match report here http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...round-Pilgrims-Newport-County-extra-time.html
Argyle were awarded 2 penalties in extra time, missed the first one, why Garita took it no one knows, Carey took the 2nd and placed in nicely in the back of the net. Very scrappy game on a very very poor pitch, both teams had chances but it was mostly a kick and run type of game.
But in the end we won and it's off to Anfield to play the mighty Liverpool, by the end of that game Argyle will be approx. 500,000 pounds richer or. $620,000 US. this will make Argyle manager Adams transfer decisions in January very interesting.

According to Wikipedia, 6 out of 32 games will be on TV in England, including Liverpool vs. Plymouth Argyle on January 8 at 8:30 A.M. USA Eastern/1:30 P.M. local. I would be shocked if it's not on a Fox Sports channel in the USA.

Yep The Green Machine keeps rolling along, dropped 2 points on Boxing day after leading 3-1, and then conceeding a last min goal to draw 3-3 with Wycombe, returned to winning ways today, not a very exciting game but a Threlkeld goal broke the ice topped off with a 2nd from Tanner.
Next game monday away to Barnet, and then the big game.
Transfer window opens for a month tomorrow (Jan 1), it is expected 2-3 new players will come in probably on loan, and decisions to be made on Garita and Tanner whose loan periods end in January.

Well we got nothing at Barnet, Barnet took a early lead and soaked up all the pressure Argyle could give them, result Barnet 1 Argyle 0, and Argyle drop to 2nd.

Since then a little bit of news, Argyle have signed 2 players Nathan Blissett and Jakub Sokolik. Blissett is a 6'4" forward from nearby Torquay United, he's 26 years old and is a bit of a late bloomer, not expecting much from him but it does give Argyle some extra cover in the forward line. Argyle have Jervis, Slew and Goodwillie as there main front runners, with Garita and Rooney as back up, they also have Brunt and Spencer who are both on lengthy injury time. That sounds like a lot but between them they have managed to score 15 goals.
Jakub Sokolik comes from Southend and is a 23 year old defender, he is also signed as basically a back up. Neither Blissett or Sokolik are available for the Liverpool game as they are cuptied having played in the earlier rounds for their former teams.

Now the main news it was announced today that Simon Hallett the new director who lives in the US but is from Plymouth is investing 5 million pounds into the rebuilding of the Argyle grandstand http://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sim...e-grandstand/story-30033696-detail/story.html

You got a result. Liverpool had 77 percent of the possession, more shots (28 to 4), and more corner kicks (18 to 0), but nobody scored.

    Nope not a twitterer.

    Argyle 4 Stevenage 2
Plymouth came back from a goal down to beat Stevenage 4-2 in League Two ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup third round replay at home to Liverpool.

From 2-2 at the break, on-loan Bristol City striker Arnold Garita turned in playmaker Graham Carey's goal-bound 25-yard drive for Argyle's third goal on 54 minutes at Home Park.

Substitute David Goodwillie made it 4-2 in stoppage time with a close-range tap-in, keeping the second-placed side four points behind leaders Doncaster.

Plymouth may have kept a clean sheet at Liverpool but they conceded after two minutes against Stevenage as Matt Godden turned in Luke Wilkinson's nod down from close range.

Argyle levelled on 35 minutes through Jordan Slew, again from close range, as he turned in Jake Jervis' effort from Graham Carey's corner.

Jervis put Argyle ahead for the first time in the 42nd minute, swivelling on Connor Smith's flick-on after Slew's cut-back from the bye-line.

Stevenage restored parity in first-half stoppage time when Steven Schumacher's 30-yard free-kick bounced up to beat Luke McCormick.

At one stage today the top 3 teams were all losing, at the end of the day the top 2 won and the 3rd place team drew.

Now for the big one, wednesday night 3rd round replay against Liverpool, winner home to Wolves, this little FA Cup journey will have brought in close to 1 million POUNDS, through gate recepts, live tv, merchandising etc.
Argyle have made the decision to put in 1800 temporary seats, in the Mayflower enclosure, as all other spots in the stadium are sold out.
The game is not being shown on regular cable here in Canada but it is being shown on a specialty channel, but i'm not paying $40 a month to watch, so will watch it on a live stream instead, i do believe it is being shown on Fox sports in US.

Well i think Argyle did a fantastic job against Liverpool, and if not for the width of the post could have gone into extra time, but it did'nt and so Argyle can now concentrate on the league.

    Cheltenham 1 Argyle 2 (Bradley 2)
A game that was nearly postponed due to a frozen field was given the go ahead 90 mins before kickoff.

Argyle against the run of the play took the lead through a Bradley header which barely made it across the line for a 1-0 lead at HT. Argyle held on till the 85th min when a goal mouth scramble enabled Cheltenham to equalise, but in the 92nd min Bradley rose to score with another header for a 2-1 victory. Argyle stayed in 2nd place 4 points behind Doncaster and 4 points ahead of Carlisle.
Argyle now have a 10 day break before they are away to Yeovil on Jan 31..

Forgot to ask , did you see the game? Not much Argyle news, players are having a few days off, before resuming training.
Rumours of a couple of players coming in on loan or transfer, Osbourne who was released by Argyle, signed for Scottish team Kilmarnock

i did watch the game and thought shit!!! when we got scored on early.... but it really made the game more exciting.... Argyle had some chances.... Pool couldve put it away a couple of time to go up 2 0 but didnt .... we hit the post... other times we were dangerous down the wing... it was good to see... never game up til the end..... HP was rocking.. a lot of good press regarding HP, the city and the fans and how they have embraced the magic of the FA Cup

Glad you enjoyed it. It will be weird with no game on saturday.
After a few days off the lads were back in training today and to greet them there was a new player Antoni Sarcevic he is a 24 year old midfielder
He could be a good one or a bust, 2 years ago he was playing for Fletewood in their promotion drive out of Div 2 he scored 15 goals and the winner at Wembley to gain promotion to Div 1. His manager at Fletewood moved on to Shrewsbury and took Sarcevic with him and signed a 2 year contract, but he struggled an only played 12 games for them , his contract was mutually terminated on Dec 9 2016. He has signed for Argyle as a free agent, probably only until the end of the season and it will be up to him to earn a contract for next season.
To score 15 goals as a midfielder is amazing whether he can regain that form is to be seen.
Tuesday will be my last game for a couple of weeks as we will be off on our annual trip to Florida, hopefully i will see my other team Ottawa Fury play some games as they are down in Bradenton for training camp and are going to be playing 3 exhibition games down there. Bradenton is about a hour away from where we will be staying.

Nothing for over a month, tut tut, my excuse was i was in Florida for a month. While i was down there i saw my other team Ottawa Fury play a couple of exhibition games at IMG Academy in Bradenton (what a facility, amazing) against FC Cincinnati and OKC Energy, i missed a 3rd game against FC St Louis because i was involved in a traffic accident, no one hurt nice big scrape to the car, not my fault, other guy received a $160 fine for illegal lane changing. Fury beat St Louis and OKC and drew with Cincinnati, all 4 teams are in the USL

    Back to Argyle

Since the game against Cheltenham, Argyle have played 8 games, resulting in 3w 2d and 3l scoring 11 and conceding 8. The 3 games they won were all against teams in the top 12, the 3 games they lost were against teams in the bottom 8 of the league, which does'nt make sense. They played 4 away and 4 home, away they won one drew 2 and lost one, at home 2 wins 2 losses. After all that Argyle are still 2nd, 4 points behind Doncaster with a game in hand which will be played tomorrow (tuesday) home to Blackpool who are 11th, they are 7 points ahead of 3rd place Carlisle who Argyle beat 2-0 last saturday at home, 11 points ahead of 7th place Exeter in the final playoff position.
During the Transfer window Argyle signed 4 players, Antoni Sarcevic, Ryan Taylor, Jakub SOKOLIK and Matthew KENNEDY All 4 have made significant appearances, with Kennedy on loan from Cardiff City scoring 3 goals, Sarcevic 2 goals and Sokolic and Taylor 1 each
Argyle lost 2 players with Ben Purrington being transferred to Rotherham for approx. 300,000 pounds and Louis Rooney going on loan to Hartlepool.
Argyle have 12 games left in the season they have 65 points, last year the 3rd place team got automatic promotion with 85 points, this year the teams are alot more even so i think 81 points may be enough, last year 75 points were enough for the playoffs

Take the 3 points and run, Argyle did a classic smash and grab, winning 1-0 at Doncaster, after absorbing wave after wave of Doncaster attacks that were defended by the Argyle defence and when they were breached there was McCormick pulling of save after save and a few were world class.
After absorbing all of that in the first half, the second half started the same, but slowly Argyle started to be a little more on the offensive and from a corner Bradley rocketed the ball into the net with a great header. After that Doncaster gave up the wave attack and bombarded the Argyle penalty area with long balls, but again the Argyle defence, McCormick and some luck carried Argyle to victory.
So Argyle are 2nd, 3 points behind Doncaster and 7 points ahead of 3rd place Portsmouth, the 3 automatic promotion positions, they are 16 points ahead of the 7th place team in the last playoff position.
It is possible that Argyle could be automatically promoted in 3 games time, but this is Argyle so dont count anything until it happens.

    Highlights
