Sorry I've been MIA recently, and will probably jump back in more when the off season draws to a close. But I wanted to share this piece with you, and get some of your thoughts on it. Maybe some of you have already come across it already? Its an in-depth piece on the chances created by LA during the 2016 Regular Season. Here's the article anyway, seems to be a lot of information in it! http://www.thestatszone.com/article...alaxys-chance-creation-in-the-2016-mls-season
Great piece for sure, goes a long way to show how vital certain players are. Also to me highlighted how often we went into Arena mode park the buss/bunker down for the 2nd half of games...
Very interesting stuff. Does give some insight into why this was such an average season for the Galaxy and not surprised they offloaded Keane and Gerrard.....and Arena!
One thing it does not show is just how badly the Galaxy were impacted by injuries last season. Zardes especially was a big loss while Keane's and Gerrard's age started to show with their inability to play a full season
Seems like they have added a new piece which looks at the designated players; http://www.thestatszone.com/article...la-galaxys-designated-players-2016-mls-season 133 / 224 total chances came from the designated players. Particularly interesting due to the time that Keane and Gerrard both missed through injury! I'm sure those stats will change now with Van Damme being handed a designated player role. Zardes was also looking quite a bit ahead of non designated players before his own injury troubles!
