Ajax looking to extend Sulejmani's contract

Ajax are preparing to engage in contract talks with Miralem Sulejmani next month as they look to extend his contract. The 23-year-old forward is tied to the Eredivisie champions until the summer of 2013 but the Amsterdam giants are anxious to warn off any potential suitors by extending his contract, for at least two more years.

“Miki has a contract with Ajax until June 2013 and he's doing a great job,” technical director Danny Blind told the Dutch daily newspaper De Telegraaf. “He is one of the players who finds the net quite easily and we're keen to keep him at the club. We will discuss his future with him next month."

The Belgrade native who has also played for his home town team Partizan, joined Ajax from Heerenveen in 2008 for €16.25 million. Despite initially struggling to gain a regular place in the first team, the Serbia international has become a key member of the squad, scoring 11 goals in 15 Eredivisie appearances for the club this term.

Adem Ljajic is supposedly poised to get much more playing time now that we have sold Gilardino. Rumor has it that he will play up front with Stevan Jovetic this weekend.

Liverpool eyeing Partizan Belgrade sensation Lazar Markovic

Serbian striker Lazar Markovic is in Liverpool's sights.

The People says Kop gaffer Kenny Dalglish is an admirer of the Partizan Belgrade sensation, 17, and sources in Serbia claim Markovic's camp have been on Merseyside to discuss the deal and a move could go through this month or be set up for the summer.

Markovic, who is in the Michael Owen mould, is rated the best player his country has produced for years.
Liverpool may run into work permit problems if they can agree a deal, but there is a case for Markovic being allowed into the country before he wins a full cap as an 'exceptional talent.

Earlier this season, Markovic was quick to talk up his ambitions of joining Chelsea after learning of their interest.

Roma interested in Groningen's Dusan Tadic

Seria A outfit Roma, are ainterested to bring to Italy Groningen's Dusan Tadic. The Italians want to first secure a loan deal for the 23 year old with the option of making the move permanent in the summer.

The news was confirmed by Groningen's director Hans Nijland who admitted that there's some talks going on, but hinted that a deal is miles away. Nijland told RTV/Noord that "we can not take this proposal [from Roma] seriously."

Meanwhile Tadic's agent has also continued to fuel speculation regarding his client's departure by reportedly naming four other interested parties. Zoran Pavlovic, who represents Tadic, claimed that Koln, Wolfsburg, Borussia Monchengladbach, Schalke and Lazio are all keeping tabs on the Serb.

Groningen however, maintain that they have yet to receive any official offers for Pavlovic's client.

Dusan Tadic, a left winger, has impressed in the Eredivisie so far thisseason , netting three goals and bagging eight assists in 18 league matches to date, and was also a target of FC Twente last summer.

Lekic scores for Osasuna in 1-1 draw

Serbian striker Dejan Lekic scored the only goal for Osasuna as they earned a point at Sporting Gijon in a La Liga fixture that was played in a soaked terrain.

Teh home team was first to enter the score sheet as Nacho Cases curled in a wonderful cross from the left that Carmelo Gonzalez just had to redirect past Andres Fernandez.

Sporting Gijon was clearly the better side in the opening stage and continued to waste chances in the second half, but the visitors started gaining ground.

Nino had a good chance for Osasuna and then in the 77th minute Lekic scored his first league goal of the season after poor marking in the Sporting defense allowed him space to head in Bertran's cross.

Osasuna are now 9th in La Liga with 28 points, well behind the pacemakers real Madrid 55 points.

Jankovic scores two and asists another in 3-2 Genoa win

Genoa continued their resurgence under Pasquale Marino with a 3-2 victory over Lazio, in their Serie A encounter at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Rodrigo Palacio and a brace from Serbian Bosko Jankovic ensured the points remained with the hosts, despite the best efforts of the Biancoazzurri.

The former Crvena Zvezda player was undoubtedly the man of the match, getting an assist as well as the two goals. He now has 5 goals in 16 matches in Serie A this season.

Genoa move up to the 8th spot with 30 points.

This thread needs to be revived!!! Too many talented Serbians abroad for this to be dead.

As a devoted Benfica fan, I must say THANK YOU SERBIA for producing fantastic players! As many of you know, several national team players for Serbia are playing for Benfica! Matic, Fejsa, Sulejmani and my favorite Markovic are fantastic acquisitions by Benfica! Benfica has been recently investing in Serbian talent lately and it's been the best decision I've seen the club make!

Just wanted to stop in and say, I am honestly rotating for the Serbian nataion team!

Target acquired (a few years ago).
In his limited time at LFC Markovic has looked out of his league. Even in Turkey on loan he was nothing special. He most recently had his loan cancelled at Sporti,g. Shame too as he was sensational for Benfica.
