well 600 people are not just a few, if the new team could count on them (and to me they would be more) it would help to move the needle
Again with the Austin thing. How many teams do you figure would have to fail in Austin before people stop saying "Texas, close rival, young, hip town, little summer competition...A NATURAL?"
( a ) And why did they do that? Because "all the pieces weren't in place." You think they are now? ( b ) Did they, in fact, move? ( c ) Are they, in fact, bleeding demised?
But let me get this straight...years after the San Antonio Scorpions disappeared, after they had continued drops in attendance, 600+ people from San Antonio miss the name SO MUCH that they will drive 79 miles to see a club that ISN'T that club but could have the same nickname as that club rather than stay home and go to games in their actual city? That's your testimony?
I remind you that Eibar and other investors said they were interested in investing in Las Vegas, Nasl has been attacked by any side and it's still alive, so the Scorpions could come to life again either in LV or in Austin in my opinion
So according to you the Puerto Rico FC shouldn't exist because the Islanders failed, Edmonton FC the same because Brickmen, Drillers and Aviators folded, Maldini and Silva shouldn't have invested in Miami FC because the team with the same name didn't fare well even with Romario and Zinho and moved to Fort Lauderdale, the SF Deltas are doomed before kicking off because since the Gales times no soccer franchise lasted more than one year apart the Blackhawks which lasted 3/4 if I am not wrong, Commisso is crazy to have bought the Cosmos because LI Rough Riders and FC New York failed brutally in drawing people at the stadium (and Cosmos had problems too with that last year too) , same for Jacksonville because the Tea Men lasted only a few years and the Cyclones dissolved in '99.... do you want me to continue or may I stop it here?
I think you just proved Kenn's point. Pretty much every team you listed are struggling or are showing warning signs. Quite a bit of people are questioning if they can survive the next few years.
Oh, "interested," so it's going to happen, then? The Scorpions last played in 2015. They're frigging dead. 'E's not pinin'! 'E's passed on! This soccer club is no more! He has ceased to be! 'E's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a stiff! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't nailed 'im to the perch 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is metabolic processes are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-soccer club!!
Puerto Rico FC's gonna fail, too. How's Edmonton been drawing? You should stop before you ********ing embarrass yourself further. Three different clubs have failed in Austin. Not one. Not two. Three. The Lone Stars and two versions of the Aztex. All the teams you mentioned have not exactly set the world on fire, either. Austin is this unicorn...people keep saying "Austin would be so amazing," yet no one moves to put a team actually in Austin and when they have, it has frigging failed. Just stop. You prove with everything you write that you have no idea. Matt Driver's going to be in the NASL, too. My God, man. Just stop.
Rome was not built in one day....and even if you could be right about the scorpions this doesn't mean the league will not expans in Austin, the fact that three teams have ceased operations there means not much to me sorry to tell you
why shouldn't they? if Nasl expands in the right markets like Philly, Chicago, San Diego, Atlanta and they are back in Fort Lauderale too it would mean the league would be active in various top markets adding the ones in which the league is already like Miami, New York, and San Francisco, this would mean bigger soccer crowds and better tv deal, a growing league and why not a treat to MLS in future....
NASL should avoid Philly and Atlanta since MLS is already there. San Diego is looking like they should back away from since MLS is seriously considering it. Chicago is the best city you listed. The Fire really don't have a presence in the city so and NASL team could benefit from that. Problem is Wilt is struggling to find a venue for them to place in. I get you enthusiastic, but you're putting the cart before the horse. The league can't spare to make anymore dumb decisions. Good news is they look like they're content with being D2 and have giving up their fight with MLS. Looks as though they may even work with them.
