Man, I know this is a stretch, but if there's anyone who might offer a hug, it wouldn't be wasted. I'm a skeptic and a cynic myself. But that post is just miserable.
Y'all are freaking so depressing sometimes. When CP has productive games, he's merely pouncing on loose balls (goal vs Ingolstadt), or the goalscorer is doing the work (Schurrle assist vs Real Madrid). And when he's doing good work without end product he's suddenly unproductive and bad. As usual, BS never fails to surprise me, both with its mountains of ecstasy, and its valleys of depression...
There was nothing fancy or elaborate about that run. He just blew past 4 defenders over 60 yards like they weren't there.
Just noticing it. Dembele (who's 19), for all the criticism received here, has three goals and four assists in the last four games he's played. That's what gets you to keep the starter spot, not the fancy moves that lead to nothing. If anything, take is as your education in soccer.
It was very pretty, and not easy at all to do. Still, you need to keep in mind where the other players are. Otherwise, you're going to end up surrounded and with no good angle.
The long run was nice but mostly just an outhustle run rather than silky skill. Was fun to watch though. Rather it was the 2nd run in the box with that super tight dribbling and juking...that was top notch.
Up until four games ago, Dembele was the king of no end product. Now things are falling into place for him. If anything, take it as your education in soccer.
It's a single poster, even if they keep posting their opinion about the play over and over. The rest of us all know it was awesome. It is kind of remarkable tho, how one poster can do that on here, when the actual opinion of posters on a topic is pretty boringly unanimous. Makes for good thread rage and lots of posting, if nothing else
Actually I was thinking something similar about Pulisic. Seems like every game thread people rave about how he almost pulled off something really cool. Imagine what it'll be like when he matures and really starts producing.
I agree and he needs to start producing if he wants to continue to see regular pt. That pressure is what develops top class players.
Tuchel loves switching formations. However when going to a 3-4-3 with Reus/Auba/Dembele across the top is likely not going to see Pulisic as a starter. Hell, in the 3-4-3 Weigl also went to the bench and Gotze/Schurrle didn't get off the bench. But Tuchel also heavily rotates the squad between Bund/UCL and combined with his constant changing of formations Pulisic is still going to start some. Seems to me he's next in-line on the flanks behind Reus/Dembele. I actually prefer him coming on as a sub for half the matches. He's on pace for 2000+ min and 30+ appearances this season. But being a sub option half the time will help keep him fresh and alleviate some pressure. He's really in a phenomenal situation. As an aside, when walking off yesterday Reus came up and put his arm around Pulisic, talked to him. Great to see that sort of chemistry and mentorship for the kid. He's an extremely valuable commodity for BVB and has the respect of his teammates and manager.
The positive is that in Dortmund he's surrounded by people who actually know the game, not a bunch of cheerleaders. So I'm certain he's getting the feedback he needs, and he's still young enough to correct what needs correcting. PS: I wish Zelalem were in a similar situation. But Arsenal is too big for one man to keep control over all the aspects of the players. Gedion could have moved along faster if he got over the need to overthink the plays by two seconds.
I don't know what the heck is wrong with you but Dortmund BVB is not some inferior second rate club. http://footballdatabase.com/ranking/world/1 No one man is keeping up with all the players at any club. The PL sucks at Player development and Dortmund considers it part of their business plan. GZ could have moved along faster if he was better... //end of
Pulisic has two goals and six assists in less than 10 full games' worth of minutes this season. I wish we had more 18 year olds not producing at the rate that Pulisic is not producing.
Except there really isn't anything to his game which needs "correcting". He's simply maturing which is a process.
Actually, I was saying exactly that: the EPL doesn't exactly suck at young player development, but can't compare to the BuLi and Dortmund in particular excels at that. They have several people taking care of their youngsters. In Arsenal, the only guy who cares about the kids is Wenger. He's spread himself thin as is. Man, some of you have severe reading comprehension issues.
