there's going to be highs and lows in every season, but the key to this league is being solid and consistent, and we appear to fit that mold. there's so many games/teams in the league; just play decent and let everyone else drop points. i'm glad we've recovered from our poor start to the season.
wow... didn't realize rovrum was having such a terrible go of it this year. also interesting to see derby, cardiff and forest so far down. surely that's not going to last. villa being mediocre is actually not surprising.
ya know i posted this on FB and then forgot to post it here. Thanks @pookspur ! the last 20 years versus Derby Co. 2-10-15 ... so this is officially a bugbear/bugaboo team for us...?
I actually thought about that leading up to the game. "He can't call all those other ones 'bugaboos' and then give Derby a pass, can he?" Good call.
Ya know, every team i've called that we've lost to when it was important. historically we might have a winning record against most of them but i bet if we went back and looked at all the other season's threads we find i'm kinda sorta right. i.e. Charlton always takes care of business against us when we need to beat them. or so it seems... cheers though! Should be on the telly in JANUARY vs B&H.
So Newcastle United could win League Championship in consecutive seasons they were in it, obviously with Premier League seasons in between. @RichardL Do you know what other clubs (if any) have done that?
I looked up what seasons he managed them. Sunderland did it in 2004-2005 and 2006-2007 with a last place finish in the Premier League in between.
lot's of stuff swirling now. rumors are that Chansiri is planning on leaving Hillsborough. a site in Catcliffe (east of Sheffield and just south of Rotherham) is rumored to have been inquired about with regard to a 50k seat stadium by someone in the building trades (though the client is not known). it appears to have coincided with rumors that Hillsborough is being sold, which supposedly gels with a clear reluctance from Chansiri to put anything into the hospitality infrastructure at the stadium. all conjecture, of course, but there are (possibly) more grounded claims that all is not well behind the scenes between the new Thai overlords and portions of staff. at any rate, the big 'SWFC' in the seats on the north stand are apparently now being replaced by a big white 'CHANSIRI'. He's obviously putting a load of cash into the club, but feathers are starting to get ruffled a bit. Not sure what to make of it all.
wtf? this is what i'd expect trump would do had he taken over the club. who puts their own name on the seats?
apparently 'Chansiri Limited' is a company that he has created since taking over at Wednesday. https://www.yorkshirecompanies.com/uk/09559018/chansiri-limited I've no idea what - if anything - it does (professional, scientific, and technical activities, apparently - whatever that means). But it could be a way that the owner is circumventing FFP by 'sponsoring' the club/stand/whatever and injecting as much cash as he sees fit. then again, it was said that the squad numbers (which defy any kind of logic) were dictated by the owner; and there's little that says 'it's my ball and you'll play my way or go home' more clearly than that. so who knows what's going through that guy's head?
