Crew has been playing better of late. They have speed too...............Their defense is suspect though, so hopefully a draw?
The Cradle of Liberty loses to Somaliwood. Goals by Manny Lagos, Guillermo Barros Schelotto, and Brian McBride.
If they lose on the road to a mediocre CREW, I am going to be very disappointed. After Saturday's shit show, nothing less than a WIN will do. CUCK the FREW.
This team loses on the road though. I guess they just beat the Revs, but that's after losing to them the week before on the road. A Revs team Columbus just beat on the road too. I won't be surprised if they lose tomorrow night.
if this was a Saturday game I'd be on board with you... midweek games are tougher to gauge... if you buy into the Union's conditioning being handled much better this year I might say that works to our advantage.
Anyone think that Bedoya might be on the bench with Barnetta at the 8 and Alberg at the 10 tonight? I also wouldn't be surprised if Ilsinho didn't start tonight. It's possible to see something like this tonight: Sapong Pontius-Alberg-Restrepo Creavalle-Barnetta Fabinho-Marquez-Yaro-Rosenberry Blake It wouldn't be too bad to have Bedoya, Ilsinho and Davies come off the bench.
If there's one thing I've come to believe from Curtin, there's no rest for the weary. I think you'll see the same starting lineup, including Tribbett over Yaro. It could be rationalized as "wanted to show him we believe in him" or "Yaro picked up a little knock in practice, so on a short week we wanted to manage his minutes". The one I'd worry about was how Rosenberry (who the team lauded as playing the most minutes in MLS this week) looked a little gimpy at the end Saturday. Don't know that he's ever played this much before, NCAA schedules are what, 16-19 games? Couple of tourney ones? He's gotta be 5-10 matches beyond his longest season. Alberg could score a hattie and he'd still come off the bench. He only started when Curtin had no other choice after Nogs left and Barnetta/Ilsinho had injuries/suspensions. If they rest their shiny new DP, I'll eat my hat.
Curtin tends to run these guys into the ground, so while I'd like to see a maybe pissy (but in a motivated way) Alberg get the nod in the hole with Tranquillo on the bench (with an eye to SKC), I feel like this won't be happening. I'd also stick with Bedoya in CM to continue his ingratiation process into this team. This is a game we can and should win, but I'm not holding my breath much these days.
I'd bet a shoebox full of pinecones and a tattered ACDC t-shirt from Spencers that Bedoya starts and plays the full 90 tonight. Any takers owe me said items above, plus a 30 pack of Genny Cream Ale if I'm right.
This is interesting. Tonight I will be in the Booth with JP Dellacamera for the Union / Crew on Comcast looking forward to it.— Tommy Smyth (@TommySmythESPN) August 24, 2016
My god, at this rate of ESPN FC retreads (starting with Janusz), we'll be putting on subtitles for Steve Nicol in no time.
