He was never billed as that type of player, so that never bothered me. Pjanic did well enough in his role without ever really getting stuck in. Ucan is just too aloof. He expects the maestro treatment before he's proven his class.

Yeah, but I'm trying to make the point that he had no toughness. You can have skill and also be tough. Be a man. And I never saw that from him - mentally or physically.

Apparently Diawara is on his way to Napoli. (DiMarzio)

If not getting Diawara means we keep Paredes I'm ok with this. I read Napoli offered 18 mil

Hell yeah. It is much more difficult to find a Paredes than to find a Diawara. #SaveParedes I trust that he will become a big player for us if Sabatini can actually not ruin my year and keep him.

Reports coming out now that Napoli have come out of nowhere with an important offer of 17 million plus bonuses for Diawara, after there bid for Tollis was rejected and could close the deal in next few hours. Via calciomercato.com

If they snag him Paredes almost certain to stay. A bit bitter sweet... why can't we have both?!?!

They diverted the courier on its way from Turin and told them to leave some lose change for him.

Let Napoli have him. We have enough bruisers in the squad, but not a whole lot of brain power. Which is why I am confused that we are even entertaining dumping Paredes.

Diawara is not a typical bully CDM. From what (admittedly little) I've seen of him he seems a smart player and he is a great passer. If its between him and Paredes I'll take Paredes hands down though.

Diawara has serious skills and athletic ability. I have touted Paredes for a couple years now (same with Sanabria) and I desperately want to hold onto him. If we somehow got Diawara while holding onto Paredes, that would be a monster move imo. The two together in a season or two will be absolutely dynamic.

I would love to buy him and immediately loan him back to Bologna where we can be relatively assured of game time.

Oh God not Fazio, he's absolutely dreadful and you can't wear a Roma shirt with that name on it.

I guess Ziyech could happen since we're sending H'Maidat to Twente on loan.

The last couple of weeks are why I get frustrated with Sabatini. We desperately need another CB and a RB and he is focusing on; buying Diawara and/ or Ziyech and selling Parades. The main focus now should be the defense not the MF.

As much asPjanic was a big loss I think our midfield of: Strootman, Nainngolan, De Rossi, Vainquer, Paredes, and Gerson is pretty good. Obviously provided we don't offload anyone else. If anything the addition of Diawara would be nice but it could become overcrowded so maybe it's good to put him on loan if we could get him unless we switch to a back 3 in which case De Rossi might be moved back there and we could use one more guy.

Where we should have reinforced was the defence. With the injury to Rudiger we should have gotten another guy to fill in. Hopefully Juan Jesus ends up being a pleasant surprise. We could have also strengthened the wing backs. The left side ain't bad although I would have preferred Digne to stay. The right side on the other hand needs someone who can be more defensive. I think Florenzi will continue to develop but in those games where you need to play ultra defensive in a 4 back formation we could have used a guy who knows the position better.

As per offense, we have the wingers set. Although I wonder who will back up El Shaaraway and Salah. We have Iturbe and we all know how that may very well turn out unless Spalletti somehow gets the most out of him but we still could use one more. I would have liked to have seen a guy come in. Even Verde I would have been good with. The centre is not bad. I think Dzeko will have a better season for a number of reasons. Still a gamble but it's impossible for him to be as bad as last year. A back-up to him would be good though in case he's garbage again. Then you have the best super sub in the world in Totti. One more guy though still wouldn't hurt. And don't forget Perrotti who plays up there too.

Spot on, agree with everything here. As far as forwards go I really hope Ricci stays and they play him. We really need to start giving some of these younger players a spot developing them into either starters of quality reserves.

IMO, get a CB and a RB and close up shop. For the money they are talking about spending on Diawara they could probably get Darmian.

According to TMW we are in the lead for Zaza. For less than 15 million I'd take him.

I think these rumors are bullshit, we are not buying Zaza without selling Dzeko, and if we sell Dzeko only to buy ********ing Zaza then I'll be pissed.

Honest question. For 15 mil wouldn't you rather have Darmian or another defender? Don't get me wrong I think Zaza can be a useful ST but Roma are really desperate at RB and CB.

Personally I like Zaza. When he gets a run of games he's a good all-round striker. Sure you can say dzeko and his 2nd season thing is something positive to cling too but really how can you say you would be pissed at replacing him after that last season.
