So talked to a friend today who works at a luxury hotel in Zurich and met Ronaldo after an award show. Apparently his plane couldn't take off so he and a couple of FIFA officials had to stay another night. The FIFA officials demanded the kitches to open at 1am at night. The cook refused. The officials threw a hissy fit. The only one who stayed clam and polite was Ronaldo. He said he would be ok with something like a sandwich from the kitchen, something they could throw together real fast. He got his sandwiches, gave a huge tip and took selfies with every employee still working. According to may friend he was the kindest high-profile celebrity they ever had at the hotel. Certainly have to eat some crow, I can't hate him anymore. He might be in love with himself and a diving idiot from time to time who doesn't celebrate with this teammates but we all have our faults and that doesn't make a bad person per se.
I don't think I can either. Too many stories like this out there and the clip of him talking Moutinho into a penalty really went against what I thought of him (not a leader, cares only about him, etc.)
It's ok for him to be awful sometimes and great sometimes. No one is a good person 100% of the time. I just think people (and the media) don't allow for flaws when it comes to role models.
For me it was seeing him do everything he could to play that final. I hated the guy but I now respect him. I even applauded him as he got subbed out.
so the defensive team has the same amount of shots has most attacking team of the euros, the only difference is that Portugal's shots did not go in and France's did congrats to Portugal http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/seas Total attempts 42 43 36 121 49 39 33 121 46 37 25 108 38 35 25 98 36 20 27 83 Off targetOn target Blocked on=2016/statistics/
LOL, England got the last 38 minutes playing against 10 Slovakia and it took them until the 90+5 minutes to score, to win 1-0. also Poland only drew 2-2 with Kazakhstan.
Slovakia is a decent team though and England have struggled against them in the Euro. Therefor I guess it was a pretty equal match? Most important thing is to win the 3 points - and they did it. Though their new coach would implement more new talents though.
LOL, Euro champs Portugal lose 2-0 to the Swiss. worst Euro winners ever show how bad they are, just like the Euros. also France 0-0 vs Belarus.
Think this way...what a golden opportunity Germany lost in the Euro...but if luck would have crowned us champ
This generation is lacking in that WC talent. They overachieved at the euros. I think Germany really should've won that one... the injuries really killed them. Not to mention ridiculous handballs in back to back games
Euro 16 was Germany's to lose, we were the best team of the tournament. Against Italy as you said we should have won the game without penalty shootout. It's a shame we couldn't cap beating Italy for the first time in a tournament by also winning the tournament. France should never have won and LOL at potential Portugal final. in other news France beats German rivals Netherlands, who are now 3rd of their group. I sense a 2nd consecutive fail to qualify.
Argentina without Messi have only gotten 1 point out a possible 6pts against Peru and Paraguay. Their next qualifiers are against Brazil and Columbia too.
even better news on the Argentina WC qualifiers front. http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/y...er-2847422.html?intcmp=fifacom_hp_module_news which now puts them in 6th position (which is outside of 5th playoff position) with 8 games remaining. With the next 2 being against Brazil and Colombia, if they don't get better Argentina could risk failing to qualify.
