Yeah right, Italy didn't play beautiful football in 2006, did anyone complain about how they won it? These ESPN people are just hating. It's not Portugals fault that the tournament was full of boring games which is one of their complaints. Blame UEFA for expanding the tournament. To all Portugal fans: On to 2018!!!
pretty much in a nutshell the Brits are just so vicious when it comes to judging southern Mediterranean football they do this because it's hard for those same english analysts to properly rate their own football
Uhm, yeah like everyone and I think you're being harsh. We won two group games by 2 goal margins, Ukraine by 3, and took out the hosts by 2 in their unbeatable stadium. One PK victory and 12 goals for isn't exactly the definition of ugly, is it? But in the US, broadcasts and papers, along with almost all English speaking countries, we were derided for playing ugly, when that wasn't exactly the case. They talked shit about us because we defend where we needed to (not the entire tournament mind you) in the final, and for good reason as you can now appreciate. So just enjoy the victory. That was my point.
More from Pepe: "We were going to fight for Ronaldo. At the break the gaffer surprised everyone, he moved the team around. It was a good Plan B and the subs were the right players at the right time. "This was the goal, we wanted to win this match. We wrote a brilliant page in the book of Portuguese footballing history."
I can't stop crying guys. Tomorrow I wake up a champion. All that hurt from 2004, the wound that wouldn't heal, the pain, the jibes, the feeling that we could never be a champion.... all gone. I'm gonna wake up a new man tomorrow. A proud Portuguese man. I love you all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm actually agreeing with you. Just enjoy the victory no matter what anyone says. I was just using Italy as an example, I wasn't attacking them.
Payet you MOFO Former head of physiotherapy at Liverpool FC weighed in on the injury. Rotation + valgus + external impact = high force through medial structures and compression laterally
Renato Sanches was named best young player in the tournament. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/news/newsid=2389937.html
Yeah I didn't think you were attacking at all, I was responding to the comment that we didn't play beautiful. On a whole, I agree, but I didn't agree with the majority of pundits who cried that we played negatively the whole time because that wasn't really the case. Though it highlights that so many fans tend to just repeat the narrative provided for them by media pundits, the worst of the lot happen to be the English.
CR7 was being targeted. Wow....All the people that say we are a one man team. All that egg on your faces.
This is the most glorious chapter in the history of Portuguese football we're living, guys. The team fought on and gave a great consolation to Ronaldo. Simply EPIC!!!
Fernando Santos, the tactical mastermind and genius who instilled belief onto the team, by proclaiming to go homw on the 11th of July when a lot of people doubted this team...
I hope you guys saw video of nervous Ronaldo jumping over coach multiple times before the final whistle lol Comedy gold!!!! WHAT A WINNER!!!
