    Haha, you funny man! :D

Now we can't say the champs knocked us out, so whatever...in this final. Don't like the French much, and Portugal has played the most negative football I've ever seen. Never want to hear them claim they are pretty, ever again.

He played very well in certain matches.

Let's not overreact and say he had a terrible tournament because of 1 mistake.

I'm not even talking about the mistake. I'm, taking about the Italy game where he was the worst player on the pitch, I remember shouting his name in anger at least 10 times.
In the first half he had so much space and he did nothing at all with it. If RB is not is postion, what is? He obviously doesn't like to cross the ball.

There is a spielverlagerungs link somewhere in this thread. You can take Löw's quote after the game that "Italy has got two variants of attacks and thats it".

well considering this is probably the weakest Italy side that has been brought into a tourney in the last 60 years I wouldn't expect much more really....why would anyone who thinks logically?

    we still did ok right?

weakest side since the 1950's still did well in the KOs

I agree. Not everything needs to be questioned just because of a loss. It was almost a complete domination until a stupid pk. Schweini played great until then, I thought. Sometimes it just doesn't work out. That's football in the ko stages. One unlucky game and the tournament is over.

Good game from you guys in the first half, especially considering all the players missing. And although I thought it was 100% a penalty, I can definitely sympathize, TS gave up a similar penalty in the Champions League and it's a silly mistake to make that even the best players make unfortunately.

absolutely. other countries though, wouldnt bunker as much if they had the same player material. but given how well you did Im inclined to say this was our real final. I think Italy was better than France which is kinda funny

He's a #6. And calling a defensive midfielder filling in at RB with no winger to support him against Italy the worst player on the pitch is a huge overreaction for the performance that Kimmich gave. He is not a fullback, and not a winger. How many crosses exactly do expect a DM to get in? How would you expect other #6s to do at RB? How would Gattuso or Xabi Alonso have done at fullback?

He doesn't have a ton of speed or technical dribbling ability to get past players and put in a cross. He can tackle, keep possession, and pass. I think he used the tools he has pretty well.

Löw obvioulsy misread Frances match plan and that is a point for Deschamps

My post certainly did not refer to these. Mistakes are part of the game, you take and use them wherever you can find them. France happily sat deep in not giving away too many, and obviously succeeded

Suffoceted? by what? German pressure and goal chances? Certainly not. Meaningless possession 30 m away from the box certainly is no way to suffocate.

I can agree with you that there was no cutting edge to Germany's attack. Pass, pass, pass with no good chances created is meaningless indeed.

The injuries were too much in the end

That and Schwein gifting them the 1-0

France never had to do anything in the game.

IMO loss of Hummels and Khedira was bigger

    Schweini mistake lost the game

Without Hummels the entire shape was terrible and especially no build from the back

what? like Iceland bunkering at some points...we never played like that even with this crop of talent...and no one thought Italy played like that at any point

Even with this current shit lot of Italy talent in the front and midfield what we did was certainly not bunker. Playing a 3-5-2 while closing down space like an accordion and jumping to the counter can hardly be considering bunkering tactics.

In my opinion these teams should have faced each other no earlier than the semis

the host team is always a hard team to play in the semi finals regardless of who it is

if france had a harder path earlier they may not have gotten this far

    Are you new to Euros?

Falling behind in these sort of games is ordinarily fatal

France can simply play on the counter and they have the ideal team for it

How is Kimmich hitting the post counted? There was also a good header saved close to the end.

Petr Cech said that even if Germany were playing until morning, they wouldn't have scored. Lack of Gomez was crucial imho. And the fact that Loew made changes a bit too late.
