They just showed the highlights of this game on RomaNow show. Incredible display from the youngsters. Alberto DeRossi seems to have loads of talent on hand.
So I'm watching highlights and Juve buys off the officials at the Primavera level. There is no low, low enough for them. http://www.asroma.com/en/video/2016/6/4/primavera-scudetto-triumph-roma-v-juventus-highlights
You can never guess the rate at which players will improve but I think Ponce has always been the striker prospect Sabatini etc are most excited about (most determined to hang onto for the future) compared to Sadiq and Sanabria.
I'd prefer to keep them all and see how each develops. We can't buy a good ST on the market and if 2 of them develop into good ST we can sell one for much more than we'll get today.
That would be ideal. However, it's also hard to hold onto players that may not want to keep going on loans but are more at the level where they'll play for mid-table side but would likely just sit the bench at Roma. Sanabria really looks like a good prospect but from the times I've watched him with Gijon and Paraguay, he sure doesn't seem ready to play for Roma. He seems more "raw" -- i.e. tactically lost, not really understanding the movements of his position etc -- than Lamela was his first year at Roma. That's fine if the club doesn't mind finishing 4th or 6th while these youngsters mature but I don't think that's the plan. What I think is happening with some of the youth is this: 1. Buy lots of talented young players 2. Hope 1/5 of them progress quickly enough to play for Roma at an early age 20-21yo 3. Sell the rest (even if it means selling ones who may become great players 3-4 more years down the road) Not perfect as there will inevitably be some that turn out to be stars worth €50 when they are 25yo. However, I don't think Roma has the money to keep all the prospects that fall in between: many of these at 20-21yo will not be ready to play significant minutes for a CL spot squad. However, they are also too good to be contented with one loan after another when they are getting offers from mid-table clubs with much higher contracts that Roma would have to match to keep them.
This is a pretty cool article about Luca Pellegrini. I don't know much about him but seems like a real talent and some fairly high praise from someone like Bruno Conti. Just now 17 he was underage last year playing with the primavera and was a real gem and got a call up against Vienna. https://asroma.co.uk/2016/11/05/pri...-up-to-roma-senior-squad-for-the-first-time/?
