To a certain extent it is true. However, Canadian/american football tends to heavily play in the middle of the field. Hence, nfl teams will resod the middle of the field especially with multiple uses. ie) Pittsburgh Steelers/ High School Football / University of Pittsburgh
BMO Field has excellent drainage....actually, sometimes too good. It sucks water through so fast that I have been at matches where there was heavy rain in the morning and by half time they still need to water the pitch to keep the surface soft enough for good/true play.
And it will continue to be known as BMO Field http://www.torontofc.ca/post/2016/0...ounce-10-year-naming-rights-renewal-bmo-field
one of the prime photogs over at www.urbantoronto.ca has some new pics including the first of the temporary supports coming down http://urbantoronto.ca/forum/thread...ns-m-s-mlse-gensler.8777/page-60#post-1093433
Here are a couple more pics from this morning showing that the roof supports on one side have been removed...
passing by last night noticed that the removal of the temporary supports on the east side had now commenced....was about 1/2 done at about 5:30 last night....could very well be complete by now.
That's cool, thanks for posting....but for folks not keeping up, that has to be quite a few weeks old by now.....all of those blue temporary supports along the east and west sides are gone and significant progress has been made since this very cool video was made.

With standing room it's still 30,000. http://www.torontosun.com/2016/02/03/bmo-field-renovations-nearing-completion-in-toronto
They have stated the seated capacity is still ~30k.......the two matches that sold out last year were over 30k....the line they are selling now is that the net loss of seats from removing the 2,500 permanent seats in the North end compared to the installation of the temporary match day seats in the north (plus finding a few other places to cram in some seats) is not enough to take the seated capacity below 30k.....when they revealed that to Kurt Larson (where I got it from) I posted it...either here or in the plethora of other threads that have sprung up over time about this stadium....I lose track of them sometimes
