I was at the game. Mexico's class was way too much for Canada to handle. They were out of their league. Canada had no width at all. They were very lucky Mexico took the foot off the gas after Tecatito scored. It would have been ugly. Yes, Canada had chances, but those were borne from Mexico's unforced errors more than anything Canada did. Canada was desperate not to lose by a ton. So much so that they defended every set play with 10 men. They had no way to set up a counter, much less deal with Mexico's high defensive pressure. Floro knows he can only make so much chicken salad. Luckily for him, the other two teams in the group are down, so they still have a legitimate shot at advancing. I hope they do. Vancouver is the tits. I will definitely be back.
Just saw the match again. MY GOD what great off the ball movement by the lads in Chicha's first goal. Rafa receives the ball from Corona. In that point you see Chich is a bit dropped (something he gets criticized for on these forums) and so the right mid for Canada has to drop and cover Chich so that Rafa can't pass it to him. Rafa recognizes this and instead passes it to Moreno who steps up and switches it to Layun who is completely alone thanks to Hirving Lozano (because he cuts inside and occupies Canada's right back). Layun then sends a goat cross to Chichmeister. Also the Canadian right mid (who covered Chich) step ups when Hector Moreno receives the ball. And when he does, he leaves Chich unmarked who then makes the run into the box for the header. Although a Canadian centerback did "pick up" Chich as he was making his run into the box. The attempt was futile since Chich already had all of the momentum at that point. Chich was practically solito on that goal. Beautiful play absolutely beautiful. Yes, it was Canada but who cares. It shows that Osorio knows his shit and our players are tactically adept too.
I also don't understand the hate for Rafa. Yes he's old and could physically be a liability but the dude has an incredible soccer IQ. DON'T be surprised if he turns out to be a great coach in the future. Who knows, maybe he'll lead us to the world cup someday?
Huerta complains that Osorio doesn't play Layun at left back. Osorio plays Layun at left back vs Canada and bosses. Huerta now complains that Osorio was forced into it and that he contradicts himself and knows nothing about tactics. Huerta is the biggest f*cking tool there is on TV.

The u23 game makes this game more important. Mexico HAS to win and clinch that spot because it might really need the card of not calling up european players in September to negotiate with clubs for the olympics because the team really needs refuerzos.
I was thinking about this the other day. They could say if you let me call these guys to the Olympics I wont call them in September.
Probably mentioned already but it's clear that Paul cannot start in a back 4. He adds very little to the attack and yet was often exposed against Canada on Friday night. He's a wingback or a right mid, otherwise he is a liability. Osorio's hiring might kill his NT career.
lmao They're like "The Mexicans threw bags of urine at us and we apologize for it." How deliciously Canadian.
That moment when Joserra is the less critical of Osorio in Futbol Picoso. I think right when Osorio was announced Joserra even defended him lmao.
The off the ball movement is the biggest change between this regime and the last. I am not saying that there was none before, but the switchoffs between mid and defender or fwd and mid happen all over the pitch. It is a stark contrast to other CONCACAF teams who move up and down, but not side to side. And stand around a lot.
