I'm guessing he is noting the number of games where TFC has had where their reported attendance is below 20k. That could be accounted for TFC reporting actual attendance rather than tickets distributed, or by the 20k being season ticket equivalents, rather than just full season tickets.
I would suggest, at least last season, it was significantly lower.....by how much I don't know but all signs point to it being an inflated number.
that is what i was referring to.... there is no reason to believe that TFC reports actual attendance...there is no basis for one team in a league reporting on a different measure than the other teams...and when asked about it, TFC does not say that is what they are doing. as for the partial packs or "equivalents"....if that is the answer they were quite cute with the language they used when they "announced" 20k (which they did just in a twitter conversation between themselves and a journo) because they also announced (in similar fashion) that they now had more season ticketholders than any other Toronto pro sports team....prior to that the gold standard was the Leafs...who have never sold partial packs and their season ticket number is full season tickets. As I said earlier this year...I think they went with the 20k number because they were confident it would never be challenged because every match would be well over 20k and no one would ask the question.
The two comments are not mutually exclusive. You also can't cast doubt upon them reporting actual attendance because they are the only team to do it and then, in the very next peragraph, claim they are the only MLS team to not include season ticket equivalents in their season ticket numbers.
Yes that (the bolded part) would be wrong to do....good thing I did not. I said they compared their 20k number to other teams in Toronto and claimed they had more season ticket sales than any other...and the gold standard in that comparison does not include (does not even sell) partial season packs.
From the Earthquakes website, only 200 season tickets left. And based on this paragraph, it seems the season ticket number is San Jose is 12,800, soon to be 13,000. The Quakes have sold out of the allottment of 12,000 season tickets through renewals and the existing waiting list and will be making an additional 1,000 season tickets available for purchase for the 2016 season due to high demand.
Not that we've ever had any real solid FC Dallas numbers, but i'm very curious what happened this off season with the big price increases across the board... the fact that they will be limited to around 16,000 seats should have pushed demand a little given they've averaged that much the past couple of years, but I can't imagine it will offset upset existing ticket holders whose prices rose dramatically...
For whatever it's worth I think 12.8k is very close to where our team is right now....we topped out at 11k+ last year and club execs will say we're ahead of that number and have been for a while...we want to break into the teens but I don't sense we're there yet...12k+ for sure and I'm guessing closing in on 13k...by policy the club won't announce an official number but like last year will likely let one or more of the beat guys know during the course of the season... http://www.empireofsoccer.com/breaking-surpass-tickets-41103/
From Garber's state of the league address, the Sounders got an almost 100% ST renewal rate with 70% signing up for automatic renewals via the "Sounders 'til I die" program.
I don't see anything in there about a capacity reduction. I'll take your word for it. Construction reduction or permanent?
It's scheduled for 2 years while the construction happens (2016 and 2017 season). Then it will be back to the level it was before, or perhaps maybe more if you count the new club seats they're going to be selling in the hall of fame/restaurant/club that they're building at the south end.
In the latest KYW Philly Soccer Show Podcast, new Chief Business Officer Tim McDermott reports 10,000 Union STH. Sounds like he was good appointment for the Union.
Here's an article on this, but I think your question is a good one because I'm not sure if it's made clear what their 2018 plans are: Toyota Stadium capacity to be reduced for 2016 and 2017 seasons SB Nation I can't imagine MLS approving the idea of any venue at this point having less than 18,000 seats permanently. My assumption is that it's reduced for just these next 2 seasons until their stadium changes are complete. If FC Dallas are actually able to say to the DFW area "Look everyone! We've sold out every game for the last two years! We're announcing more seats available due to demand!", would be a good thing. They've done a decent job so far these past couple years of growing their brand there.
I haven't seen any indication that it is anything but temporary during construction. They've explicitly listed the 2016 and 2017 seasons as being impacted. The mockups all include the south end seating in a similar (Same?) formation as the original seats. So I'm trying to figure out why there's some idea it's going to be a permanent reduction?
No solid number here but got this from Chris Thomas the team Marketing Director - 2015 was the largest number of ST's they'd ever sold 702966180277911552 is not a valid tweet id
http://touch.metro.us/new-york/incr...ve-faith-in-red-bulls/zsJpby---kkhdxY8f75AKE/ Don't know why we can't just release our numbers but Marc dGP is giving the clearest indication yet that our current season ticket number is around 13k... 11+k last year with a 17% increase over last year put us either slightly below or more likely slightly above 13k... With an entire season to sell more...
This is what irks me: Claiming marketing success for the numbers Gio pulled in, then denying it. And, I'd love to see the "solid numbers." The Galaxy STH base has been and continues to be poor relative to the size of the market.
