I'd have far more to say on this if it weren't a Chivas USA thread.

I feel bad for the Chivas USA fans for losing a club they dedicated their time, money and most of all emotions to.

I'm not going to sit by while you write my team off as "plastic" and praise people for doing what a genuine supporter is meant to do. The Chivas USA fans who were there until the final whistle, I do respect because they showed support and loyalty to the death when nobody would have blamed them for simply stepping away, seeing the writing on the wall.

Note however, that my first game after emigrating to the states was Chivas USA destroying the Galaxy in 2007. The Galaxy failed to make the playoffs that year, making it the second year in a row. However, I had already made my choice (LAG) and attended regularly in 2008. Despite an attrocious season, I had developed enough of a connection with the Galaxy to sign up for season tickets anyway.

In my initial years in this country, I could legitimately have chosen a Chivas USA that was leading the league, while the early years of the Beckham era made LAG look like a ridiculous mismanaged debacle of an outfit.

However, I had already decided after WC 2006 as my immigration was on the horizon that I would follow LA Galaxy (during what was another poor season) and jumping ship because the other team in the vicinity was better goes against everything I believe about what a supporter truly is.

Well in Mexico the current joke is that if Chivas MX gets relegated, it will not matter because Cobras may win the Ascenso MX and they would just swap.

    In spanish

Basically, chivas is loaned their young players to Coras and coaching, the ownership may not be direct, so maybe not direct ownership, more like an association.

    http://www.mediotiempo.com/futbol/draft-2014/noticias/2014/06/05/chivas-reforzara-a-coras-de-tepic

So the owners are associated, but I guess due to FMF rules that only televisa* and tv azteca are allowed (they are not but they do) to own multiple teams, the ownership is not direct.

    * Edit: I think Televisa is now down to 1 team in D1 and D2.

Now that the off-season is upon us, is the move happening soon? ;)

Would have preferred to see a "Defunct Teams" forum created for all the 3 defunct teams (TBM, MIF, CHV) though...

Chivas USA is dead -nothing to see here. LAFC might have gotten the support of Chivas USA fans but no way LAFC is Chivas USA. LAFC is an expansion team. Sorry galaxy fans.

You know a Galaxy fan tifo with "LAFC you are nothing but Chivas USA 2.0" would be kind of funny.

Then Again, I think that also works for NYCFC.

its time to relegate the Chivas thread on BS to the trash heap- 2015 is a new year without them

Tifo not needed. Most insecure galaxy fans are posting this now. You can't compare LAFC ownership group to Vergara.

its time to replace the chivas forum with an atlanta forum as we know they will be a definite addition to MLS in 2017- for those who want to memorialize chivas and moan about the loss, the dozen or so can agree to meet at a local pub wearing their chivas kit and remember the good old days when there were 3 000 fans in the stadium

i do admire those that hung on and supported the club until the bitter end, but it all was a bad mistake by MLS HQ and the owners

its over and time to move on- the only thing that bothers me is that the MLS brass did not learn from the chivas mistakes and are going down the same path with NYCFC

Chivas USA forum should be moved or closed.

Atlanta (and LAFC) exists in the MLS Expansion forums where it belongs. It will move like all expansion teams when the the offseason starts before their first season.

There is zero connection between the 2 forums.

Maybe there should be a "Dead MLS Clubs" subthread.

On a general MLS forum it is not trolling. On a Chivas USA forum you bet it's trolling.
