#Niersbach: CHF10 million (6.7 million euros) used to secure #FIFA subsidy of CHF250 million for 2006 World Cup— DW Sports (@dw_sports) October 22, 2015 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Welle That's also a way to look at it.
That's a stupid theory for two reasons. 1. Two of their titles were Euros. FIFA doesn't control that. 2. Many of those players were winning Champions Leagues at the same time.
Yep, when discussing we came to the same conclusion. Apart from that: UEFA refs are sometimes FIFA refs too.
Yeah, can you draw a clear line between the acts of UEFA and of FIFA. The ref committee president and vice-president have been the same at both FIFA and UEFA for some years, Villar recently re-elected. It are two different organizations but perhaps not as different in their operations as some think, with high placed people occupying jobs at both organizations. They aren't the most reputable sources but Alec Ferguson, Mourinho and the Portugal 2012 team have voiced their grievances as far as the Villar-Erzik duo is concerned. For what's worth. Often those things aren't as clear cut though, even when proven and true (calciopoli in Italy - it didn't work that straightforward over there).
FIFA refutes German claim over 2006 World Cup payment http://sports.yahoo.com/news/german...ment-fifa-world-cup-bribe-132448727--sow.html
Theo Zwanziger has accused his successor as German FA president, Wolfgang Niersbach, of lying about a slush fund allegedly used for Germany's 2006 World Cup bid. FIFA confirmed it would launch an investigation. http://www.dw.com/en/zwanziger-there-was-a-slush-fund/a-18801751
Good lord, now that the allegations are flowing they keep getting worse. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-told-times-doctor-records-ExCo-meetings.html "FIFA are investigating claims that a junior member of staff was told to falsify official records of meetings of the world governing body’s executive committee between 2001 and 2010......"
Three things I took away from that article: Interesting that FIFA spokesperson added they are using outside counsel intheir investigations. Window dressing or real - not sure yet. The whistleblower needs to come out with more information and detail -- throwing a hand grenade without anything to back it up is not appropriate. What a mess UEFA is in! If they want to be viewed as the beacon of hope, they are certainly screwing the pooch so far.
I dunno if you heard about this here but yesterday Zwanziger basically confirmed that a world cup goes to whoever pays the most, not who has the best bid. And that he feels pity for Beckenbauer who was asked to deliver the world cup and that he "had to do whatever had to be done for it" (enter system FIFA, get dirty hands etc). Not that we didnt know that, but thats devastating to hear from someone in the higher ranks. DFB is reeling for two weeks now.
Uwe Seeler has just criticized Zwanziger for that. Can be coincidence? Or perhaps has his literally lifelong connection, like few others have, to Dreyfus his predecessors something to do with it.
Just posted a longer post in the 'Officials Arrested' thread but this particular part belongs here. This is from an interview that Blatter did for Tass in Russia. Full interview here: http://tass.ru/en/sport/832283 Reform quotes that I found interesting/dismaying/frightful and which I hope the sponsors see and take stock of: "I am the boss of the government that has not been elected by me. And therefore, it is very difficult to govern FIFA." OK, I might be over-reacting a bit, but what president elects the government he runs? Russia and China maybe, but not very many democratic institutions. "You see, the reform committee...they work on my agenda. I gave to this committee what they have to do." In response to the question on what he thinks will happen at the congress in February: "I do hope that I'll be back as president of FIFA." From Blatter's mouth (according to Tass).
That has ben Blatters plan all That has been Blatter's plan all along...throw everyone else under the bus, suck up to Putin, hope for a divided vote and then step back in to 'reform' FIFA....what a crook...
From Grant Wahl -- Platini may not be able to stand in the FIFA election. This would, IMHO, fit Blatter's plan to remain president -- but who then would be FIFA president? Wahl points to Bahrain's Salman. http://www.si.com/planet-futbol/201...i-fifa-election-jason-kreis-erick-cubo-torres

Hi! In my opinion - not just because of his name - Tokyo Sexwale should be the next FIFA president. He has already his own Fanpage ;-) http://tokyosexwale.com Do you agree?
Nope, I don't agree, I don't understand why people are cheering for him to be the next FIFA President when Sexwhale his own past of shady dealings & questionable actions. http://mg.co.za/article/2015-10-30-00-why-tokyo-sexwale-is-wrong-for-fifa
Everybody has a past, a present and a future. The article you mention is from a big Anti-Tokyo-Sexwale-Lobby, nearly self-destructive, what they are doing & publishing http://tokyosexwale.com/analysis-against-sexwale/ Cheers
Look at the original poster -- he joined BigSoccer and this was his first post...think he might be from Sexwale's camp? Not just an average, random poster it appears to me.
Yes, absolutely. I came here to post the Tokyo Sexwale Fanpage. Nothing wrong with that or? I am not from anyones camp - I created that webpage cause I am a Tokyo Sexwale Fan. As this is a FIFA reforms thread - I thought it is ok here. Nothing to hide. You will find even my real name on that website, if you click on the "right link" there. No need for "conspirative assumptions"
