The Colombians were a bit inexperienced in the 2014 World Cup, and they did phenomenal. They will take that experience and I think they'll be ready to crown themselves. However, I will admit they've been meh since Brazil 2014. Hopefully they catch fire soon.

Repeat champions? That would be quite something if that happened. The last time there was a repeat world champion was in 1962 (Brazil). If this German team wins Russia 2018, as well, they will be legendary. I hope they don't though. Go Colombia!

Chile are my second favorites if Colombia falter. I was very happy when they won the Copa America for the first time in their history.

Trust me they won't let Germany win in Russia. Brazil regains form and wins in Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow

btw an eastern european team will be in the semis. This will follow the world cup tradition of having a team that represents the host area until at least the semis.

    1998: France
    2002: South Korea
    2006: Germany / Italy (Germany's ally)
    2010: Holland

The Dutch were the first European trading power to set up a permanent settlement in South Africa. In 1652 the powerful Dutch East India Company built a fort and established a supply station under the command of Jan Van Riebeeck on a site that later became Cape Town

    2014: Brazil
2018: any of the slavic nations

Slavic peoples. Slavs are the people who live in Eastern and Central Europe, the Balkans, Central Asia and North Asia . They include: Russians, Poles,Macedonians, Czechs, Serbs, Ukrainians, Belarusians, Bulgarians, Slovaks, Croats and Bosnians

I think France will win it. They have a young team that has great potential. They were too green in 2014 but I believe that in 2018 they would have matured as a team.

I would say the same about Belgium but to me they have more issues to fix before the next tournament.

we've been going through a bit of a generational change right now and a ton of injuries. However I think we'll be back to normal once we figure things out a bit more. It's a long way from now to 2018 though.

The Dutch have a lot of problems to solve before booking their place in the World Cup semis in Russia. They could try not getting swept by Iceland first.

you have no idea. These two nations have won 9 world cups between them and since 1994 have featured in 4 of a possible 6 world cup finals. Italy have some good players in Candreva, Verratti, Beradi, Florensi, Darmian, Di Sciglio, Giovinco, Marchisio and more and will be a threat as they always are in Euro tournaments. The big nations are almost always there when it matters and 3 years is a long way away. They'll get their act together.

Pretty sure you chose Colombia you have nfi. As good as they were at the world cup they beat average opposition and fell when it truly mattered to what many considered and actually were a rather poor Brasilian team.

They have no chance in Europe.

Brazil and Italy have great history. But for you to say they have a chance in 2018, you are being a bit too biased. Italy hasn't been the same since they were eliminated in the 2013 Confederations Cup. And Brazil, despite the fact that they beat Colombia in 2014, didn't play very well in their World Cup. And despite their player selection, they don't have as big of a chance to win because they don't play very well as a team. It showed in the 2015 Copa America and when they lost to Chile in their first 2018 WCQ game.

Why are teams like Chile & Colombia even mentioned? They're good sides but to be considered among the favorites? No, the last time Colombia were considered favorites(1994) they bombed out in the first round. While Chile struggled to win their regional Championship at home in what was one of the weakest Copa Americas in recent memories.

    1) Germany (Ginter, Kramer, Draxler, Meyer, Goretzka, Brandt)
    2) Argentina (Mammana, Kranevitter, Correa, Dybala)
    3) France (Laporte, Kondogbia, Fekir, Coman, Martial)
    4) Belgium (Denayer, Tielemans, Praet, Januzaj, Batshuayi)
    5) Spain (Gaya, Samper, Oliver Torres, Saul, Alcacer)

My top five favourites in order. In brackets are stars who could be established by then, on top of what they already have.

The Netherlands will finally win their first WC. You saw it here first. Failing that, Italia will take it, after beating Germany (again!) in the final.

Imagine if the Netherlands made the final only to lose to a team that has already won it four times.
