Gabe Rosario has an exciting year ahead of him. The Carolina Rapids Academy goalkeeper is entering his last season in the Development Academy. For most players, that's a massive step in the path toward a college scholarship or professional contract. For Rosario, it is a swan song. The teenager already has his next step lined up. He will join Reading in July of 2016, his father Bobby Rosario told TopDrawerSoccer last week. The English Academy offered the youth a two-year scholarship after a training period this past summer. Rosario’s path to the contract had a lot to do with the road that his father had already paved. Bobby Rosario was born in England, and like many, fell for the game quickly. He was blessed with some attributes that not many had and conveyed that into a lengthy career in the game. Prior to the success on the elite club stage, the younger Rosario had a spell with Charlton Athletic. “Gabe has been on the fast track since he was 13 years old and whilst he was guest playing for a U15 team I took to England, he got the attention of Charlton Athletic when we played them in a friendly game,” Bobby Rosario said. “He spent two weeks with them and then returned to America for school.” http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club...ospects:-goalkeeper-lines-up-uk-move_aid37498 DOB: 10/07/1999 USSDA profile: http://ussda.demosphere.com/teams/68797515/47187193-68797602/63071833.html
Interesting...this club is in an exurb of Charlotte, I think. Yet the club is affiliated with Colorado.
Gabe Rosario is indeed with Reading FC U-18's: http://www.readingfc.co.uk/news/art...nducted-academy-madejski-stadium-3165405.aspx
There doesn't appear to be any clear indication here that he's US-eligible (USSDA link above is down). This one is live, says his nationality is US. https://ssl.demosphere.com/scripts/runisa.dll?S7.196754:gp:636638.3384:72695 Elements/Display E 47116 Player/ 47187193 60852392 63071833
Here's Gabriel's new USSDA profile, which says his hometown is Cornelius, NC and that his nationality is US: http://caro.ussoccerda.com/sam/teams/index.php?team=1399949&player=29389385 His father is Robert "Bobby" Rosario, an Englishman who had a fairly long soccer career before moving to the US to play for Carolina Dynamo in 1997 and Charleston Battery in 1998. Undoubtedly, Gabriel was born in North Carolina shortly after. Since then, Bobby has stayed in the Carolina area as a coach. His English football connections very likely influenced Gabriel to move to Reading. http://www.ex-canaries.co.uk/players/rosario.htm

He did not appear for Reading's U18s this season. I wonder what he's up to there; I had actually assumed he had quietly left the club. http://us.soccerway.com/teams/england/reading-fc-under-18-academy/19770/
Technically yes, but Carranza is actually on the 1st team--the NASL team. The other 2 play on the academy.
He's on the bench for Reading U18 in their opener, so he's still at the club. First time he's shown up in a U18 matchday roster, I think.
Gabriel was on the bench today for Reading U23....I am not sure if this is the first time? but its the first time I have seen his name on an U23 Roster!!! Reading U23 won the match 0 - 2 at West Brom U23......
Per Huddersfield's announcement, Rosario had a loan stint at Staines Town last season. I hadn't seen that before. I found this: 944585114356453376 is not a valid tweet id Gabe Rosario has returned to Reading following his loan at Staines Town after an injury. He played 4 games, keeping 1 clean sheet in his 2 weeks at the club. #readingfc pic.twitter.com/5HJxXWjv31— Talk Reading (@TalkReading) December 28, 2017
That's pretty interesting. I think Staines Town is the 7th or 8th tier in the English pyramid which really isn't a terrible standard for a 17-year-old.
We overlooked him, but Rosario has been on the bench in preseason for Huddersfield's first team along with Williams against Dynamo Dresden, Real Betis, Werder Bremen and Darmstadt. Not that Rosario will be with the team for their Premier League campaign -- expect him to be with their U23s or loaned out -- but this is a sign that Huddersfield rate him at least somewhat. https://www.htafc.com/news/2018/july/team-news-dynamo-dresden-vs-town/ https://www.htafc.com/news/2018/july/match-reports-interwetten-cup/ https://www.htafc.com/news/2018/july/towns-team-vs-darmstadt-98/ TEAM NEWS with @ViessmannUK One change for the second 45-minute game against @werderbremen_en, 5pm kick-off (UK)@J_Williams99 comes into the starting XI for Hamid Sabiri, who is a substitute(DTS) pic.twitter.com/dVoj8bHRMs— Huddersfield Town (@htafc) July 21, 2018 TEAM NEWS with @ViessmannUK: #htafc face @sv98 for the final pre-season game on tour in Germany & this is how the Terriers line-up!Adama Diakhaby is given his Town debut whilst @AaronMooy is on the bench having joined up with the squad on Thursday after the World Cup.(CL) pic.twitter.com/1eRLY3RnEX— Huddersfield Town (@htafc) July 22, 2018
