That's a tough question. It's hard enough to see where he slotted in the RSL rankings even. He never out-showed fellow '97s Lennon and Saucedo in the DA, who had just ridiculous numbers.
It's official: Josh just signed at Man U... Former Real Salt Lake Arizona standout Joshua Doughty has official joined Manchester United’s academy, according to azkicksit.com. Doughty was rumored to have signed with the club in November, but the approval process in England can take some time. Doughty is listed as part of the club’s U21 side for this season. On Tuesday, he scored twice in a 3-1 win for the Manchester United U18 team over Burnley. He was also part of the U21 side, which played to a 3-3 draw against Salford City. The 18-year-old has appeared with the U.S. and Canada at the youth national team level, but only played for Canada in competitions. AZkicksit.com reports that Doughty is expected to receive his U.S. citizenship after living in Arizona since he was four years old.
So if he played for Canada in an official competition without being eligible for US citizenship at the time, he can never represent the US, right?

Enjoyable if goalless game with #mufc U19s today. Several fine performances - Josh Doughty among them, first time I've seen him in flesh.— Adam Marshall (@AdamSMarshall) November 3, 2015
Let's be honest, if he gets really good and somehow plays for the 1st team of a good European club, he'll play for the U.S. If he doesn't stick with ManU (as pretty much no youngsters do) and ends up bouncing around the lower leagues, he is all Canada!
FWIW his Twitter bio used to say "Canada U18" now it doesn't say that. It's as if he tweeted an American flag.
Not that you need me to tell you this, but Alex Bunbury was a darn good player. If he'd been American, he would almost certainly have been a key part of the U.S. team of his era -- and that was the early and mid-90s team that was the face of the changing game here. Very nice physique and skill; MLS didn't get the best of him at the end of his playing career.
Josh has just been named to an upcoming Canadian u20 camp: http://www.canadasoccer.com/next-ca...co-for-camp-and-international-matches-p158793
And just named to the US U20 camp: http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...ayer-roster-florida-camp-roster-to-begin-2016 He'll need the same waiver as Zelalem to compete, but should be okay with these "non-international" friendlies during camp.
I think it will be a long time before he commits to a program. At least until he sees if he can be an established pro in Europe first. Which is quite a ways off. If he breaks into the Man U first team, I don't think Canada or the U.S will have much of a chance as he has British citizenship.

Not saying this kid is ready to be salivated over, but maybe we should think about giving him a look with the U-20's soon?
