This is like a Zen question rather than Machiavellian tactics...

 

Sasaki says that it was not perfect, but we won three games and the members played very good. The team became solid since many members played.

 

Japan's style right now suits them just right. The unassuming, sometimes confusing tactics with the entire world's eyes on them. Keep your cards close to your chest to stay confident and to not instill doubt/fear in your players (your cards).

Actually, the USA winning today means that they join Germany in the opposite half of the draw to Japan, right?

And Japan will play next vs. Netherlands or vs. 3rd team in group F (Colombia I guess)

 

I like it! All I had was Fox Sports with the occasional "Meyamo" (or me llamo, for us Spanish speakers) and a few instances of "Ogamo". I sense a trend. What's next, Kawasamo. Sugasamo. NAGASAMO!

I'm glad someone brought up Andobear! (Kumando? Andosito?) I love it so much... and seeing Ms. Kuma holding him all match! I couldn't deal! The girls are being way too adorable right now.

I definitely welcome and expect him on the bench for the remainder of the tournament. He will lead us to ultimate victory!

My bet would be Colombia for third also (assuming France beat Mexico), but you never know with England. A draw would put Colombia second, England third.

 

Anyway, this is a little old but i think you guys will appreciate this little snapshot after the Switzerland game

 

Bad news for us europeans, my friend blissett, next Japan game will be the night between 23rd and 24th at 4 am again

 

Actually, I think it was clear before the game that they would advance, because Sweden and Australia couldn't possibly both finish higher (unless Switzerland lost by 10 goals or so) and Thailand had already played. I only realized this after the match though. I don't think there's much difference between China and Canada, so I'm wondering whether Voss-Tecklenburg actually cared about the result. I'm not saying she pulled a Sasaki and threw the match, but maybe this explains the rather lacklustre performance to some exent...

Edit: Wait, actually I think they might possibly not have advanced if Nigeria had won and France and Spain were to win today/tomorrow... this stuff is complicated.

I am thinking, with this tournament nothing is certain. What is that saying about the optimist and the pessimist, ..."the optimist feels like this is the best of times, the pessimist worries that the optimist is right".

Tonight, for pure entertainment value, Korea-Spain should be the knock-down drag-out match of the evening. Win or go home for both teams. Too bad I can't stay up for it.

 

This was an odd combination of players. It was not the best 11 but it worked. According to last night's commentator, Sasaki is the only coach to have played all of his 23 players, leading - in my mind - to a lot of confusion among onlookers as ther is a complete lack of consistency. He still has not shown his top team. The team in the game against Switzerland may have come close, though. I am certain that so far we have seen a lot of smoke and mirrors... KAP is probably not too far of with his comparison to Machiavelli... Hope Sasaki doesn't end like him.
And yes, we have not seen good, attractive, glorious, artistic football with all the bells and whistles, but... It worked so far. And again, I am sure he will pull more tricks out of his hat depending on how the competition develops. The biggest stumbling blocks are the US (rough play) and Germany. That doesn't mean all other games will be a piece of cake and easily won.

 

Okay, this picture is completely wrong on the grounds that no one thought to give Jaws a shark mask. How do you miss that!

Who would you sub out though? Although I just got this amazing image of Andobear riding on Ms. Kuma's back as she runs down the pitch! Imagine him connecting on a "bit too high" corner just over her head and giving us a win!

Oh, and there was another guest of honor at the match as well.

I've just came back and seen the result. 1:0 against Ecuador. 1:0. It was good that the goal difference doesn't matter in this case lol.
