No, no, no. He's not a false 9 and he's not a left winger. He's too isolated sometimes on the wing and I feel like he's actually quite lazy playing that position. Its almost as if he feels like his role just isn't important on the left wing, so he's very passive taking players on and plays no defense. As the false #9, I just don't think it fits his game. He's not a striker, and although you aren't asking him to necessarily be a target striker, I think he's best suited further from goal in a central attacking position. Back to our team though, its just one of my main problems with how he's being handled by Bayern and to a lesser extent Germany. This'll be another tough test for Brek, if he's playing LB again. He certainly struggled against Netherlands.
Sorry I do not understand the point. ..can you explain what you mean.? Thanks Greetings from Germany☺
You said that you couldn't find a replacement for Donovan. It was suggested by the other poster that Mix Diskerud should be the replacement. My personal opinion is to wait it out. You'll find a player that you like. Our National Team is still trying to find a player to replace Donovan. We haven't found that player yet, but we feel like there are some with the potential to be as good or better than Donovan.
Oh, Thanks now I understand☺ This is true, there is no really a good replacement for Landon ...I miss a world class Star in USMNT. ..Klinsi is great coach. ..but he can only work with "Material" (players☺) he has....anyway US soccer is still att a good level
Why couldn't this game have been played on a weekend? It sure as hell would have drawn higher ratings
OK, this is fine, you are a fan of Bayern Munich player Goetze is not that so stable as Müller, but Goetze scored the World cup goal for Germany. Greetings from Bayern München☺
Ach, understand...hm...he is not the good replacement. ..hm.... Then I take better the old man Klinsi☺
Hummels is injured and Boateng will sit out the friendly vs theUS, he will only come to the national team for the qualifier vs Gibraltar. So the only two CBs left for the game vs the US are Mustafi and Rüdiger. The latter didn't have the best of seasons with Stuttgart and is generally still quite prone to a mistake. Overall the German defense doesn't instill the greatest confidence in me. Taking into account Germany's quite lackluster record in friendlies maybe this will be again a high-scoring game like the last friendly from the US vs the Dutch
One has to wonder abou the mindset of the German setup. They have this friendly and then the match against Gibraltar. I don't think the established players will have much interest. Our guys who are trying to claim GC spots will have more fire in their bellies.
I'm not doubting the Germans just yet. Remember when they put a legit second string team out (minus 2 or three first team players) when they played Ecuador and beat them 4-2 and Podolski scored in 10 seconds? I think they'll be okay.
It will draw ratings no matter what. Germany are world champs and there are a million storylines already for this friendly. People at work will be watching. If Neilsen doesn't get a true representation of how much interest there is for this match it's due to their broken methodology and failure to adapt to modern times. Everyone I know who is a fan and a few casuals plan on watching from wherever they are online from work, on their phone or at a bar.
Yes I am not buying this "lacking confidence" and "C roster" talk. We are missing many of our WC2014 starters and will be playing some young players as well. I expect Germany to play well and for our team to give their best like they always do friendly or not.
Correct. There had been initial reports he might go back to the U-23s and then back to the Senior team, but it seems he stayed with the full team. That's good, since it seems likely that he'll be on the Gold Cup roster. Hopefully they'll let him play in the U-23 qualifying though. Does Stanford play thorough FIFA dates? I'm hoping we don't get abused by Germany and Klinsman finds a couple more players he think can handle the better teams in the Gold Cup.
I expect most of the German players will already be in the vacation mindset. A win for the USA would not surprise me at all.
Don't they have qualifiers? Or maybe it's just the one qualifier vs. Gibraltar they have before their summer... So, if that's the case, they'll already be at the beach for the game anyway and the game will be a little bit like vacation.
Yeah, I read in one preview a quote from one of the German managers about this game being a great tuneup for Gibraltar. That stung a little
Nice. So if you guys beat us you're just that much more superior to us and if we win its because your players didn't care.
What I'd like to see... 4-3-1-2 -----------------Agudelo-------Zardes----------------- ----------------------------AJ----------------------------- ----------------Mix---Williams---Bradley-------------- Johnson-------Brooks------Beckerman-----Chandler -------------------------Guzan---------------------------- Now I'm sure many will blast the Beckerman at CB. And I'm not saying it's a lock to work but I like his positional IQ and his passing out of the back. I just feel that he will provide a calmer presence next to Brooks than either of our other options. Johnson and Chandler will have a lot of space to operate on the wings and will require a better understanding with Mix, Williams and Bradley for balancing out the formation when they make their runs forward. AJ underneath is more ideal. He can drop into the mid and link pass, as well as get up top when he likes. While Juan and Zardes will both occupy more traditional forward roles they are also capable of pushing out to more of a winger role to link with Johnson and Chandlers forward runs and to create space for AJ.
