Wood and Zardes over Bjorn? F that. Why bring Zardes across the pond when we've got a Euro striker in better form already over there.

And I'm curious how much of this roster is a product of MLS coaches bitching and moaning about not wanting key players taken at this time because Omar is quite an omission.

Which coach? Was it Jurgen deciding just not to call them or MLS coaches campaigning for not having them be released?

I see no point in scheduling these friendlies against top competition right before the GC if we're not going to call in a better squad.

Cameron apparently dealing with injuries though. I btw don't mind no Zusi or Besler. Omar however I'm surprised by but Bruce is known to bitch about not wanting guys called in so who knows what happened there. Should have brought Omar and left Zardes.

Would have been nice to see Bjorn in here...there's a real chance we lose him to Norway if we don't act relatively quickly.

Out injured/personal reasons: Bedoya, Dempsey, Cameron, Garza

    Snubs: Gonzo, Besler, Feilhaber

Really really disappointed to see Evans and Ibarra but I'm fine with everything else. Although I would have loved to have seen Feilhaber for Beckerman as well.

With this roster I think the best we can throw out there will look something like this:
    GK: Guzan
    RB: Chandler
    CB: Alverado
    CB: Brooks
    LB: Shea
    RM: Yedlin
    CM: Bradley (C)
    CM: Jones
    LM: Johnson
    SS: Agudelo
    ST: Johannsson

I agree with this starting XI. Knowing Jurgen, he'll probably not be conventional and will instead start Zardes and/or Ibarra.

I like that starting XI. I expect to see:

Rimando, Yedlin, Jones, Alvarado, Shea, Beckerman, Ibarra (RM), Johnson (LM), Bradley (AM), Wood, Johannsson. That's not really a joke.

"Another big fixture for us is Jermaine Jones. He’s going to be back in midfield because of the fact that we have so many high-quality center backs. With the discovery of Ventura Alvarado who won the CONCACAF Champions League with Club America, we think we have a very strong and stable backline and we don’t need Jermaine in the center back role. We also talked with his club coach and we are both on the same page there. He will be back in his number six or number eight role, wherever he fits best.”

I believe that GCam and Bedoya are suffering from knocks.

    -------------Agudelo--------Johannsson------------
    ------Johnson--------------------------Yedlin-------
    ------------------Jones----Bradley--------------------
    ----Shea-----Brooks----Alvarado----Chandler-----
    -------------------------Guzan-------------------------

Thats the best roster I could come up with, really not a fan of the CB's we called up outside of Brooks... Glad we are going to see Agudelo get a start in all likelihood, unless Klinsmann is insane and puts one of Wood/Zardes in over him.

Roster selection suggests more of diamond:

    ------------Agudelo------AJ
    ------------------Bradley
    ---------Jones------------Fabian
    -----------------Williams
    ---Shea-----------------------Chandler
    ------------Brooks-----Orozco
    -------------------Guzan

from experimental point of view this will be a chance to see:

    1. Shea at LB against elite competition
    2. Orozco at CB against elite competition
    3. Fabian in an inside wide-mid role
    4. What if anything Beckerman has left in the tank

I understand the first time about now again? Yes JK, I think the message was clear. Now he's just acting stupid.

Klinsmann continues to wreck our National Team.

Three of our eight best defenders completely snubbed. Is this a personal decision, does Klinsmann not care about putting the best players on the field or is he this poor at evaluating form and talent?

Alvarado, Orozco, Evans? Does he just pick these teams on who he has a good personal relationship with? Alvarado has had a terrible season for Club America. Just because he gets minutes, doesn't mean he plays well. I assume Klinsmann hasn't watched him play. Evans and Orozco are completely mediocre, and have shown that over the course of their 33 combined caps. Rimando and Yarbrough getting call ups over Hamid is just embarrassing. I guess club form doesn't matter in those cases. Wood? Ibarra? Are you kidding me? What can young uncapped MLS attackers do at this point to get a call up?

Jones and Zardes are completely undeserving of call ups because of their form with their club teams. You want to send a message, send it to players that are playing poorly. Not two players that are frontrunners for Defender of the Year and another that possibly had the best season of any Yank Abroad.

Both Ream and Lichaj had quality years to deserve call ups over Orozco/Evans and Shea especially considering location convenience. Wooten and Johnsen should have replaced Wood and would have been more convenient than Agudelo/Zardes. O'brien could have replaced Beckerman/Jones for similar reasons.

This would be a great time to re-evaluate those individuals to see if they deserve a call for the Gold Cup and again Klinsmann calls in old mainstays that don't need this experience.

On top of that, is Rimando seriously going to be a Gold Cup keeper again? Plenty of keepers in their prime or up and coming in MLS deserve more looks to compete with Yarbrough and Guzan easily provides veteran presence.

I wouldn't say he's wrecking the team, but this will not be an informative camp in the slightest.

Does Klinsmann not like Besler, Cameron and Gonzalez? It can't be form because they are all playing really well.

What could it possibly be other than someone crazy Klinsmann master plan or poor player evaluation?

I love it. Love seeing the reactions of people. It is so much fun. It is also highly predictable.

Lots of reasons certain people were not called in. Should be an interesting pair of games.

Prepping for the gold cup here. Geoff is injured. Dempsey is out for personal reasons.
    Bedoya is injured.

Should be a more interesting call up in July. Cannot believe we are a month away!

We might need to call in a replacement for Jermaine Jones. He just came off injured in the Revs-Galaxy match.

Both Evans and Jones subbed out today because of injuries. Evans with what looked like a lower leg problem and Jones with apparent groin strain.
