Nah, there's just a sticky that says "he would do better without crap service" along with "He should have done better with that one chance, but his touch was crap"
Not watching, but based on what I'm reading, Fletcher may be injured? Hopefully Jozy can get a decent run of games in.
Well it appears that his insertion as a sub hasn't helped much at all at this stage of the game. They are getting run off the field.
I guess today was the revenge of Ayn Rand. And, btw, Poyet is a mediocre coach. Wickham on the left makes little sense ... among other things.
Sunderland's roster is garbage compared to most of the rest of the Premiership. That they're hanging at around mid-table shows that Poyet is not a bad coach, as some think.
Sunderland spent oodles of money over the previous two years (not so much this year). They pay market wages. They hire crappy coaches. And pretty much every team in top 15 plays a more appealing soccer than Sunderland. Of course, pretty much every national team plays a more appealing soccer than Uruguay.
They get scammed, basically. Five million pounds for Danny Graham? Charlie Adam for five quid too? Fletcher for 15? They have paid above-market price just to convince players to go to them, because Sunderland (the city) has a reputation as being butt ugly, cold, mean & poor. Borini wanted them to pay him 2m pounds extra just because they were S'land.
There team has less talent than last year. No Borini. No Qi, and they spent F-all in the summer. Last year at this time they had just 8 points and were in last. This year they have 14 and are in 14th place. So he's almost doubled their point total through the same time period. So far, Poyet's doing a good job. People here just want him to fail because they are mad he benched Jozy.
I know that feeling. He's scored many goals that have made me react that way. I remember watching him light up the Argentine league at 16 years old. Truly special player.
I remember seeing this caño and thinking--oh boy, this kid is going to be something big. I remember being surprised at how young he was yet how impactful right away he was in the Argentine league. He made me think of Saviola.
The killer crosses from Navas stopped when Wickham moved left. If Jozy were not a "typical American striker" so-called, he could do that and prove of some use . Good luck with that. Where's my service, I wanna score, bwaaaa.....
This isn't really fair to Jozy. There's plenty of stuff to hit him on, often a poor first touch, easily muscled off the ball, etc., but being solely a center forward isn't really an American thing, nor is it a mark against the guy. It's great to be a good defensive forward, but not really a big part of a striker's toolkit.
Good lord. If the "typical American striker" were anywhere near as good as Jozy, our player pool would be a helluva lot better than it is now. A typical American striker can't dream of making a top 4 league bench or score 30+, let alone 20+ goals in a top 6 league. If Jozy were a typical American striker, he'd still be languishing in MLS rather than having interest from Germany/Italy/France heading into the transfer window and he'd likely have never gotten a transfer bid, but of course he has two 10M+ transfer fees to his name which is completely anti-typical. If only Sunderland had more typical American strikers like Wondo or JacMac or Alan Gordon or Will Bruin. I'm sure those guys would prove of some use to the current #14 EPL club and they'd be top 10....of course, the "typical American attacking mid or winger" couldn't provide the service needed.
Jozy is nowhere near as good as the other American strikers who played 65 minutes in the EPL last week... uh... month... uh year! that's it. Last year!
This is perfect because Bubba Rub probably about captures the scope of you and certainly Justin's Oakland experience. That you Stacy's mom?
