It's an optimal time for MLS (who own his rights and make these decisions. Not the Sounders) to sell him. It's the peak summer transfer season. You've got several European teams with deep pockets bidding for his services. Let them drive his price up and cash out. Much smarter than waiting another six months and risk injury or a loss of form. MLS are smart negotiators and I'd be very surprised if they don't sell Yedlin to the highest bidder before the major European clubs kick off their seasons.

I have to think that the Sounders wanting to keep him until the end of the season is impacting the suitors.. How many teams are willing to pay for him now to just join the team in January? Of course, being a Seattle guy, I'm sure Yedlin is part of that decision and he wants to be part of what is going on this season.

From a team standpoint, I'm not sure Yedlin is overly required and losing him might actually help things for the Sounders.. Right now, we've got Neagle, Pappa, Alonso, Pineida, and Evans that are all starter quality players, but only 4 positions to put them in.. Yedlin leaving would allow the Sounders to shift Evans to RB and get all those players on the field with negligible impact on performance.

Sad to see Yedlin go, and hopefully we can pick up the title while he is still here. I don't mind seeing him going to Roma (he will learn a lot) but I don't want to see him lost in loan land for years. Yedlin is definately one of the brightest players we have coming up and he needs consistent playing time.

He won't, as long as he preform well he'll be playing soon, we have Maicon who is 33 and Torosidis who is 29.

Until MLS, Sounders or Roma is reporting it, it isn't done.

Mate while this may be true, Di Marzio is one of the best in the business when it comes too transfer rumors. But our owner said this a few days ago, i think its safe to say this transfer is all but done.

Regardless of rep, I never believe it until you have a player holding up a jersey. I've found it makes it easier to go by that rule than believing every rumor that comes out.

Ok then:whistling:... Just trying to inform you guys on the impending news that will most likely be announced in the coming days... We are currently in the US, en route to Denver, so its not crazy to think that we could announce the signing of Deandre sometime in during our US tour. You guys are still going to have him until January... Not sure what all the denial is about.

No denial, I'm confident this deal will probably happen in the coming days/weeks. It just hasn't happened yet, that's all.

You're probably just detecting the soreness of losing our most promising young talent.

Nope. But you know how it goes, rumors come out that X player is going to Y team, at some point the rumors shift to "sources confirm X player has signed with Y team, the teams are just dotting the i's and crossing the t's." Then the rumor completely disappears off the the radar for awhile and the next reports are that it fell apart at the last minute. As a Roma fan I'm sure you've had a number of those situations.

Not if it means we set up a residency program, or a second academy team in Eastern Washington, etc. Even after the league takes their cut and we get the $750k in allocation money taken out, that's still going to leave something like $2.5million to $3 million that is earmarked to player development.

Yep, the deal was off last week but now with our Owners comments and Di Marzio's report, it makes more sense now and seems to be done. This is the Greg Seltzer timeline for Yedlin lol.

So it was Yedlin that shut them down? I wonder why he didn't want to go initially. Probably concerned about disappearing into loan land and not seeing any playing time in the first team. Either that or he's 21 and worried about leaving the US for a country that is thousands of miles away from his home and where he doesn't speak the language.

According to Seltzer yes... According to Di Marzio last week we had agreed to a fee with Seattle but hadn't talked to his agent yet. And he shouldn't be concerned about going on loan. As i said we have Maicon who will be 34 next summer(and i think his contract expires) and Torosidis who will be 30, Yedlin will have his shot to become our starting right back. As long as he plays well when he comes over in January and is loaned out to a mid table Italian club(Genoa the most likely team atm).

As Yoshou and Moose said, not discrediting your posts. I've gotten excited or disappointed too many times about possible transfers. I personally just find it easier to wait until there is a formal announcement with the player involved. We've all seen situations where something sounds like a sure thing and then they fall apart at the last second.

I feel with a club as ambitious as Roma, Yedlin is a couple of years away from being the starting RB. From what I have seen, Torosidis looks good enough to take over after Maicon leaves, for a couple of years. A good thing about Yedlin though is he can cross the ball with purpose. Everytime I watched Roma last season, I felt the wingbacks shanked the ball too many times (just imo though). Cole will probably help with that.

Torosidis is average. But everyone on Roma are terrible at crossing so we Yedlin will be our best crosser already.

TT is tweeting that Tottenham has moved to the front. Not sure why MLS would be hyping that. But can't believe there is any way he can stay long term under current roster rules.

Hyping it because he was a homegrown player and a rising national team player. I would much rather see him go to Roma than Tots imo.

Will be interesting to see what the CBA brings, maybe Yedlin is privy to some information on CBA that allows him more options than "YOU MUST GO TO EUROPE!"
