Great thread. JK will have a lot of young talent to integrate over the next 4 years. It's going to be fun to watch. I hope JK secures Zalelam for US.

Michael Hoyos? Last word on him was that he was in a bad car wreck which has greatly derailed his career.

There is Joel Sonora of Boca Juniors though. Don't get too excited yet.

You should submit some articles. From what I see, you absolutely can accomplish that goal. Forge ahead on that my friend. Love your passion!

Whatever else is true, I feel a lot better about the "next generation" talent than I did four years ago. Remember the Boss hype?

Yup. Boss, Gyau, Shea and Lletget were supposed to lead us to the promised land, yikes.

The beauty of the up and coming crop is the shear quantity of guys in top notch academies. Not all of them will make it, obviously, but this will be the first cycle where the US has multiple attacking players playing for big, champions league clubs.

I'm not at all sure that's the reasonable answer. Until he went down, Johnson was one of our clear top performers as a right back and plays there week in week out these days. Moving him out of position because he's good enough at left back means we end with lesser performance in both positions. We've got four years to find someone who fits in left back. Pickings look slim for sure, but we got a solid performance in the slot by Beasley out of almost nowhere this go round. But yes, we absolutely do have an overload on the right compared to the left so the temptation to play someone on their off side is great.

He's a natural left back although he's right footed. Putting him on the left and we lose nothing.

I'm just pointing out that like most of these decisions, it is far from cut and dried, and the is not one obvious answer that makes all other choices unreasonable. And it seems awfully odd that a right footed player that is playing mostly on the right for his club and played on the right at the World Cup is a "natural left back." I could be mistaken, but not sure where this comes from.

Does Uruguay have any interest in him, or does he have any interest in playing for them? The kid is clearly an American, but if he is getting called in to the squad before he gets his citizenship, I wonder if he'll jump.

Also, does he seem to attract any overseas interest professionally?
