I think you are overreacting... MLS teams simply do not have the depth to cover losing a good portion of their starters, particularly all of their playmakers. That isn't a Sounders management issue, that is a MLS management issue. Hopefully one that will be addressed in the upcoming CBA...

But anyways, what you saw tonight was the Sounders without Alonso, Pineda, and Dempsey. That left Pappa as the only playmaker.. Not only that, but Pappa was surrounded by crap. Neagle had a bad game and Cooper and Barrett have no business being starters, imho.. Evans isn't a guy you can rely on for offensive output and Azira is fast, but little else..

As for Dempsey and Yedlin not being there... Dempsey played a game every 5 days against some of the best players in the world, with a broken nose, no less. I would have been STUNNED to see him even on the bench. Yedlin, on the other hand... He was a super sub for every game but the last one... I was a little annoyed that instead of at least being at the game, he was in New York on a media tour..

Long story short, given what the Sounders had to play with, the result was not unexpected and I kind of expected we'd be lucky to get a point as soon as we lost Alonso.. Losing Pineda and then Martins was just the icing on a crap cake.

Although.. All the previous post being said, it does annoy me that the FO and team don't seem to take these rivalry games as seriously as the Timbers and Whitecaps do.. You may have said that in one of your posts, but I should seriously be asleep, so my reading retention is quite low atm. :) if you did mention it, I apologize.

Anywho, it pre-dates the Timbers and Whitecaps joining MLS, but the Sounders seem to come out incredibly flat for these games and while the other team is keyed up and flying around the field, we, invariably, seem to be stuck in molasses.

Now, admittedly, Vancouver is significantly lower on the scale than Portland (I'd also place them below LAG and RSL), they are still up there and I'd really expect more energy from the players and staff.

I was upset about Yedlin, but with him going to New York, that reeked of MLS telling him to go there instead of the team saying go ahead. The league seemed very happy to be able to talk about the first homegrown player on a national team ever. It sucked, but out of our control I feel. Ultimately the league is really in charge of the players, not the teams.

Is there any report that Dempsey and Yedlin did not want to play? Dempsey needed the break and makes sense but Yedlin should have been on the bench at least however i get the league wanting to market the success story too. Its good for the growth of the league. As far as Sigi ya I thought it was a low blow at half time with his comments but its not the first time. Barrett is a better sub but I love his work rate. NO Ej in him!

We have games to Win. New York? What? As soon as the USA was eliminated, I was totally focused on ssfc winning. Somebody went to New York? What? What does that have to do with beating Vancouver and Portland?

Never expected us to win this without Alonso and Deuce, but I just want to know what's up with Martins. Is he on his way out?

Dunno.. Could just be a hamstring.. It would be interesting to know if he was practicing with the team last week..

Nothing. Yedlin is a over night star and the league is milking it for all the positive press it can in the media capital of the country for the better of the league not to mention maybe selling him to Roma. Did it hurt us ? Yes but we still should have done better than we did with players we had.

As an impartial NE Revs fan, I felt compelled to tell you that both Rimando and Beckerman played against us on Friday night, and they both made the long trip back from Brazil as well. Can't believe your team threw that game away against Vancouver, a team that looked atrocious vs. Colorado last week. Just saying.

Fortunately for both of those teams, they didn't lose.

Well Rimando did not play at all in the cup and Beckerman sat the last game. Dempsey played every match. Yedlin should have been available i agree. However i doubt that changes anything as we were missing more than just them.

In Sigi's words (more or less), playing in the world cup is very strenuous both physically and mentally and it's detrimental to bring them back out too soon.

I completely agree, it's just really poor timing considering the situation we had with suspensions and injuries. That basically led to a cascadia matchup being a throw-away game which you never want to see.

I agree. It was more us just being a victim of circumstance rather than the management saying they didn't care about the game. If Pineda and Ozzie didn't pick up their fifth yellows would we even be talking about this?

Oh and on the Oba having a "pulled hamstring" front, I'm thinking it actually is a hamstring issue. They've put up several pictures on the SoundersFC website recently that show Oba and they just released a youtube video on Oba. I'm not sure they would do that if he was on the way out.

Agree. Vancouver was up for this game and I thought they played it very well... nice aggressive attacking combinations, smothering defense, flavored with lots of speed...everywhere. Comparing the offenses, seems most times the Sounders forwards got the ball (after Papa ran all over the place trying to find a way to thread it through) with their back to the goal, and immediate pressure pushed them back toward midfield. The Vancouver offense attacked facing the goal, putting quick balls ahead of running players. The whole game it seemed to me like Seattle was playing down a man.
