Maybe it is just because I live in the Seattle soccer bubble and there have been a lot of retweets within the community, but is it just me, or has Yedlin been getting a lot of buzz about his performance in WC?

I'll admit that I missed a lot of the USMNT games because I wasn't able to watch most of the games live and I had the results ruined before I could watch my recording, but it seems people thought he did fairly well. For people that actually did catch most/all of the USMNT games, how did he do?

Klinsmann used him as a late game sub at RW and he provided a lot of energy in the games I saw him play in, do you foresee him being used more as a winger instead of a wingback in the future?

And.. Just for fun.. Do you think he'll be a Sounder for much longer?

Not just you, he's been getting a lot of buzz. Just listened to Bill Simmon's podcast and he talked about Yedlin being one of his favorite players on the team.

He's been quoted as saying that he would only go away from Seattle for an extremely good price and if he knew it was a team that he could play on. I think he's been paying attention to players like Agudelo and Shea going across the pond and not getting much first team playing time.

He did much better than I anticipated. He was taking on world class players with zero fear and lots of tenacity.

On a soccer board on a website that I frequent, he's talked about as being the best player on the USMNT this WC.

This is a board frequented by euros and eurosnobs who generally hate on all things US (It's especially bad because of a recent glut of stupid American trolls on the board since the WC started) and MLS respectively.

Yedlin was nice surprise for me at WC. I think Klinsi gave him confidence to use his speed and attacking skills more than Sigi. Rio Ferdinand was mentioning him on BBC and I think Yedlin will get soon better offers from euro teams than Najar did 2 years ago. It will be hard for us to keep him unless MLS changes some roster and salary cap rules.

I'm not surprised at all I knew from the first time he wore the sounder uniform he'll have a bright future. There was an interview a couple months back that he wants to improve more. I think he wants to play other position than RB.
It's really up to him how far he wants to improve. But right now, he reminds me of a young Marcelo.

What I'm really surprised is that he gained muscles without losing any speed. Whoever his trainer, that person is doing a great job.

It's not just in Seattle or US media. I am completely out of the Seattle bubble now, living in the Netherlands. Yedlin has gotten absolutely fawning coverage by the match commentators and post-match analysts on BBC, Dutch, and Flemish (Belgian) TV. Everyone is calling him the most gifted US field player of this world cup after the Belgium match - several of my Dutch coworkers have also made unsolicited comments to this effect the last couple of days.

It would be great if MLS was at a place where keeping him in Seattle made sense from a player development standpoint, but as a USMNT fan I'd rather see him stretching himself in a more technical league against better opposition - as long as he can get playing time.

He was praised by the Irish commentators, describing his play simply as "excellent".

Let's be honest, he was going 1 on 1 with Eden Hazard and held his own.

Ya I thought he looked great. Never really understood Twellmans critisism. I'd like to see him at RW and Evans at RB. I think he will be gone next window.

Part of the reason he looked so good was because the USMNT attack looked so anemic/listless. Players like Dempsey and Bradley would get mobbed by the defenders but Yedlin was often left 1 v 1 where his speed put him at an advantage.

All season I have thought he looked better in the attack than on defense. It would not surprise me to see him shift to midfield where he can use his speed, drop back on defense when needed and get forward more. Him RW and Evans RB works for me.

Well, Twellman is an idiot, so it would be difficult to understand anything he has to say, let alone criticism against D'Andre.

As far as our boy goes, I really don't want him leaving the Sounders unless he's going to a BIGGER club where he will get guaranteed playing time. If he's going to any of the big 4 countries in addition to France, Netherlands, Portugal, and he's going to a 1st division club, then sure...no problem.

But if he's just gonna go to a freakin Norwegian or Championship club, forget about it. He's better off staying here in MLS. He'll get regular playing time and more than likely get reps against top-notch Mexican and Costa Rican clubs via the Champions League.

The only thing about this, is Sigi LOVES to have his fullbacks moving forward and helping in the attack. Could be a reason why we tend to concede a lot of goals in MLS, but he's all about that combining between his fullbacks and his wingers. It would be awesome having him at RW, but I think Sigi keeps him at RB.

So long as he goes to a club where he gets regular playing time I'm all for it, but I really wouldn't want to see him go to a team where he is only getting reserve starts.

Well that depends its a combo of if the sounders think he is intergal to winning it all and whats being offered plus as was mentioned if He wants to go to a club that might make an offer. more likely winter as clubs may to scout the whole season not just world cup.

Just wanted to point out that as a homegrown player Yedlin's contract does not count towards the cap. Neither does his next contract, meaning we can restructure it and give him the money he deserves without screwing ourselves over.

Do you have a link saying that his next contract is exempt? I'm certainly not questiong you, I've just never seen a deacription of when the HG tags goes away... Other than when the club pulls it to make someone else a HG.

Also.. Aren't there only two HG spots that are exempt from the cap? If so, that could be limiting for the Sounders. We've already got Kovar, Okoli, and Yedlin with HG tags. If you add in Darwin Jones (Senior this year) and Jordan Morris(Sophomore) and you've got way too many players for the exemption.

Unfortunately, no i don't have a link (posting from my phone makes that difficult if i could even find it).

My understanding was that a HG player's first two contracts were exempt. That said, MLS makes it hard to understand their rules and seem to frequently change them without telling anyone. Also, I'm unaware of any limit to the # of HG players but you're probably right as it would make sense to limit them.

I think Yedlin is already on contract #2... Unless the Sounders included a huge pay raise in his first contract.. He was making 50k last year and is making $92k this year..

Rumor: Yedlin going to Roma on loan.

    Liverpool is also interested.

I think the date is wrong in the report you're seeing. All the reports i've seen is the loan is until the end of the MLS season..

That being said... I'm not so sure on this... Is Yedlin actually going to get playing time at Roma? This is a "big" team with a lot of quality players and is a team where a much better player, Michael Bradley, was a bench player. Obviously they play different positions... Does anyone know what Roma is like at RW and RB? Will Yedlin challenge for a starting role?

There is Maicon, Torosidis and young Jedvaj on that position at Roma. I do not see much space for Yedlin. :(
Probably Roma is just investing in future and they are good in that regard?
