In Costa Rica's second goal vs. Uruguay today, I understand in retrospect it was offside. But my question is about dangerous plays. I play a lot of soccer, and I thought I understood that whenever a foot is kicking near a head, then one of the two players is making a dangerous play. For example, if a ball is coming at head height to my opponent and I kick my foot up that high to make contact about when he does, I'm going to get called for a dangerous play. On the other hand, if the ball is coming down low to my foot (say a foot off the ground) and my opponent makes a diving header at the ball when I'm kicking it, he is going to get called for a dangerous.

So why was there no call and no discussion by the commentators of a potential dangerous play on that goal?

This is a play at the edge of goal, the player from CR is going for a definite scoring opportunity with a header. This is the kind of play that would override any dangerous play. This is also the reason why sometimes a player gets hurt or injured after scoring a goal.

Costa Rica is still standing,yes...but not due to her merit, not for her good play or other things..
She is alive until now thanks the very bads teams which has met on her way...Uruguay,Italy (and i am italia's supporter!) and England...and, in my opinion, she hadn't to pass against Greece..

Have no sense, for me, to speak about Costa Rica as a revelation team or as one of the candidates for the final win..

You can say the exact same thing about teams like France and Belgium. But hey, this board thinks that every team in this tournament is terrible, other than the 2 or 3 current favorites.

    Nobody is doing that.

I agree completly with you Fayez...is the same expecially for the France which didn't play beautiful matches but was against mediocres teams..yes, true!
And, as you told, seems that each teams could be terrible, could win the world cup only because won one or two matches against zombie's teams...like Spain, Italy or England..
For this reason i said: ''Have no sense, for me, to speak about Costa Rica as a revelation team or as one of the candidates for the final win..'' Because in, others discussions, a lot of people told this..
