NPSL battle of San Diego in a US Open Cup playoff

    SD Flash will play San Diego Boca FC this Sunday!
    Due to a mix up with registration paperwork, OC Spartans have had to forfeit their US Open Cup qualification match last week where they shutout SD Boca 2:0. This means SD Boca will take their place as our opponent this Sunday at Del Norte High School.
    Kickoff is at 12 noon, show up early and get a sneak preview of the new team headed up by new Head Coach Jerome Watson and anchored by hometown boy Nick Harpel.
    The game promises to be another exciting day of pro soccer in San Diego brought to you by the number one pro soccer team in San Diego, the San Diego Flash!

    The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that the FC
    Force (Holtville, CA) have joined the league as an expansion team. They
    will begin play in the Southwest Conference of the West Region in 2014.

    "It's great to see the NPSL continue to grow in the soccer hotbed of
    Southern California with the addition of FC Force," NPSL Commissioner
    Michael Hitchcock remarked. "FC Force shares the NPSL’s commitment to
    growing the game and developing players. I'm excited to see the high level
    of competition in the NPSL Southwest Conference in 2014!"

    FC Force is led by Owner Alfredo Marcq Sr., President Alfredo Marcq Jr.,
    General Manager Jorge Zavala, and Head Coach Diego Lucas Terry.

    Terry is the best known of the group, having starred for Racing Club, the
    Argentina National Futsal team, San Diego Sockers, and La Raza Monterrey
    in addition to his service as the head coach of the Revolucion Tijuana.

    “The vision of FC Force is to be the premier soccer team in California,”
    Terry stated. “We are committed to providing quality soccer and fostering
    partnerships with all community members through ongoing daily, direct, and
    positive play.”

    Home games will be played at three locations in the Imperial Valley,
    including Southwest High School, Holtville High School, and Calexico High
    School.

    “We are thankful and extremely appreciative of the rare opportunity to be
    part of this great organization.,” Terry concluded. “We are ready to work
    together to keep the league growing.”

    The team hopes to be competitive in their first season on and off the
    field. They look forward to securing sponsors and establishing
    relationships with community organizations.

    expansion teams for the 2014 season.

    The NPSL is a national league that operates in the 4th Division of the
    U.S. Soccer pyramid. NPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S.
    Open Cup through their affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF)
    and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). The NPSL is the
    fastest-growing national soccer league in the U.S., operating in 70+
    markets across the country. Two Major League Soccer (MLS) clubs, D.C.
    United and the New York Red Bulls, operate U-23 squads in the NPSL.
