Guam... I didn't even know they HAD a national football team. When I first saw this, I thought it was an NF Board outfit. Where's the link to this?

he gets to join other "not good enough for the USMNT" guys like AJ DeLaGarza, Ryan Guy and Doug Herrick.
As a former player for the GNT I resent that remark. Okay, I don't really resent it personally... there's no need to point out that these guys aren't good enough for USMNT Mr. Obvious. What this does for a guy like Erick is it gives him some exposure to top players and coaches in Asia. He might catch someone's eye and next thing you know he's trying out for a team in China, etc. Guam used to be part of Oceania but lobbied and succeeded in becoming part of the Asia football confederation- which was better for them and gets them in some steeper competition. Of course, Erick better get used to some humbling scorelines.
Erik played a huge role in Guam's last two international matches - against Laos and against Cambodia. Both friendlies have been recognized by FIFA. So far, Guam is undefeated in its last three international matches, dating back to March 2013 in its 3-0 thrashing of Chinese Taipei in an AFC Challenge Cup qualifier in Myanmar. Guam's team will be busy in 2014, with two FIFA friendlies against Aruba next month (first-ever matches against a CONCACAF country) and later in July, will play in the preliminary competition of the EAFF East Asian Cup to be held in Guam. Guam is expected to qualify for the second round of the East Asian Cup, which will more than likely be held in November or December of this year in Chinese Taipei.
He got an assist in the first game but it told me it is to much trouble to take off work to join the team and that may have been his last game.
Maybe we can pull a few strings and get at least one of the Aruba/Guam friendlies moved here? We can use Ustruck as a selling point.
He tells me he got a call up for the June games but has declined to play. Just too busy with his paying job keeping the Lion's hopes for more trophies going
I really wonder why people say things like "I didn't know they had a national team". In football, pretty much every country and dependency has a national team. Only Marshall Islands, Nauru and Tokelau among territories with over 1,000 people don't have a national team. Every other country does. So stop getting surprised by 'exotic' places having national teams ;-)
Erick is the team administrator. Works to make sure players are taken care of on the road and at home.
So he works for OC now, in an admin capacity? I was sure I saw him in street clothes at one of the preseason friendlies up in Sanford back in March, but assumed it wasn't him.
Yes he makes more now than he did playing the game. His brother is in charge of game day set up and Eric works to make sure the guys have what they need at home and on the road. You know the staff at OCSC has gone from 16 people in all departments last year to over 50 this year and they are still hiring. You may see several purple clad folks walking "VIP"s around the games at Disney as they set up money people for the guest boxes etc for next year. They want to be able to get three DP's and NOT finish last next year. Anyway, Eric is a part of that effort for top class kind of treatment for the players.
