To compare with UCLA's hire, BJ Snow officially took the US Soccer job on 1/25/2013 and UCLA officially announced Amanda Cromwell's hiring on 4/12/2013. I count that as 77 days. ND is currently at 62 days. Like ND this year, all of the 2013 high school seniors signed NLOIs to attend UCLA without having a coach in place when they signed. It all worked out just fine for UCLA and its players. Hopefully, ND can say the same in December.

    You sure?

Nothing from ND, Dartmouth, or Lesle Gallimore, her college coach and mentor.

OK Golden Domers let's hear it. Surprisingly quiet after having been waiting so long for this hire. Thoughts on the Romagnolo hire? Want to hear the spin in this and why a ND kid should be content with this hire...

What are you talking about? They hired who?
    I haven't seen an announcement.

Ha ha, here you go. Look at my 'crap' posts and I was spot on with most. Not up to me if UCLA gives Cromwell an extension and Swanson turns down the gig.
Here is what you don't get. I have HUGE respect for Notre Dame as an institution and athletic program. They should be able to pretty much get who they want with their prestige, resources, and national brand.

The college soccer world today is saying 'Huh?'. Romagnolo wasn't in anybody's hot list for a job of this caliber and she somehow got it. It wasn't Nolan, Smith, etc. which would have made good sense to me. Just curious how ND alums, present players, and future prospects will react to what is in my opinion a C-list hire.

Everyone certainly is entitled to his or her opinion. Unlike most of the posters here, I do have a dog - I mean daughter - in this hunt. She's thrilled that she will get the chance to work with an up and coming coach who obviously has plenty of soccer knowledge and fire in her belly. And, at the end of the day, despite all of the pontification by you and "the college world" on the merits of this hire, what my daughter and her teammates think and how they perform on the pitch is all that really matters.

She is an excellent coach and recruiter. Notre Dame just hired one of the best young coaches in this country.

I hope and pray you're right, so give me some specifics that will support your opinion that she IS an excellent coach and recruiter. Appreciated.

Also, what style of soccer does she play--direct or possession or something different?

You are absolutely right. Even I as a die-hard ND fan's opinion does not matter. The kids at ND are the one's that are directly affected by this hire and I hope they all give the new coach a chance.

I am thrilled that your daughter feels that way and in my perspective hopefully we have a coach that WANTS to be at Notre Dame.

I will be at the ND vs. Chicago Red Stars game on April 2nd and by then maybe this will be official and if she is on the sidelines for that game I will be curious as to the style she will play even against the pros.

Oh and BTW, a couple of her former players in Rachel Quon and Christen Press play for the Red Stars and even though Press will not be there, Quon will.

News really from the 2013 team but the ACC named Elizabeth Tucker one of the 44 recipients of the Weaver-James-Corrigan postgraduate scholarships - $5,000 - for distinction in the classroom and her sport, while demonstrating exemplary contact in the community.

Just take a close at her club coaching history. She spent quite a few years coaching in the club circuit in so cal. Worked with less talented teams, before surf, and would always get the most of the players. Excellent role model for young women.

Dartmouth job posted in NCAA Market also but nothing on the Dartmouth website. A little weird that the new job posting goes out but current coach still listed on the website as if nothing has changed. That's not a good tactic for Dartmouth if they want a good applicant pool. "What's happening?" is the first question anyone will ask. Hopefully, all is known and public soon...

Notice that in the photo in this article Theresa is certainly pregnant.

Notice the last line in her Dartmouth bio which says she has a new daughter.

Could it be that she is leaving to raise a family and is not going to Notre Dame?

Unofficially, a St. Patrick's Day announcement would be fun - especially if the new coach is coming from the Big Green. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned the UCLA process last year: this is a bigger leap, from Dartmouth to ND, for a less experienced head coach than it was from UCF to UCLA for Coach Cromwell. But she'll have plenty of talent on the pitch!
