We beat them when Johnson left due to injury and one time he didnt play . They are on a roll and we haven't been scoring if you had watched some recent games.
Lack of scoring late in the season, means we will definitely see Robby Findley to continue that trend. Give me Plata, Velasquez and let youth rule in this one.
So we blame this one on not having morales? Injuries happen dude, that's part of the game. Only reason I'd think of going to a 4-5-1 was if Jason didn't have confidence in Gil.
I'd be tempted to go 4-5-1, not because of Gil, but because it seems like Beltran doesn't like to commit himself too far forward on the wing and kills the forward momentum whenever there seems to be an opportunity. I've started calling him "Backpass Beltran" because alliteration is never a bad thing.
Plato is okay up top, but I prefer Aristotle on the wing. Seriously though, I'm a bit skeptical if Beckerman or Sabo start in this one. They will have logged a lot of miles just to get there. If they don't start, I think this one's an uphill battle all the way. Doesn't mean RSL can't (or won't) win this one, but odds are stacked against them.
everyone just shutup and watch this holy mother of god The XI I want to see: Nicky Palmer McDonald Schuler Wingert Grossman KB Gil Grabs Sabo Plata It won't be what we see, but I think that squad gives us the best potential
Same here since the LA game last year that ended our season and started LA's. or was it the year before? Doesn't matter. He'll backpass some more next game.
We actually started to cheer if he made a pass forward during the USOC. he then reminded us why he doesn't do that - his passing was shite that game. IMO, he's been a pretty big bust this year. I'd look to move him and find an outside back who can cross. Can you imagine how much better this team would be if we had a threat coming up the sidelines? Our outside backs get the ball A TON (I'd argue they get it the most of any player given how teams play against us). If we had outside backs who would run the flank as a threat (Tony is not a threat) we'd be a drastically different team. In fact, what is one of the biggest difference between the team that won in 2009 and the teams since? Robbie Russell. Yeah, he was with us up to the CCL. But in 2009, he still had the ability to get up the wing and whip in a cross.
I'm sitting here watching this, with a big, stupid grin on my face. Sometimes it's easy to forget how fun it is being a fan of this team. Someone in the FO is doing their job right with this video.
I'm a little confused about this comment. Are you saying our outside backs touch the ball more than our central midfielders? I'm pretty sure that's not true. Just look at any Chalkboard from any game and you'll see that Javi and Kyle pretty much always have the most touches of any player. Maybe I'm misunderstanding, though? I wouldn't be surprised if the opposing team's outside backs get more touches than usual when they play against us, however, give our emphasis on controlling the middle of the pitch. For example, against Dallas Jair Benitez had 131 touches, whereas against Chicago he had 99.
watch the next game and focus on how much our outside backs get the ball. they don't complete a ton of passes like the central mids - in fact it is usually just one each time the ball comes to them - but they get the ball for longer stretches and make that pass. Those chalkboards show passes. Our diamond pats the stats to show KB/Javi/Grabs/Gil passing the ball a lot. That doesn't mean they have it the most
Editors at MLSsoccer.com don't have much faith that RSL can even get a point in the city of roses tomorrow: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...occercom-editors-pick-week-34-weekend-matches Yikes, clean sweep for the wood choppers.
anybody else gaining confidence with how little confidence everyone else seems to have in this team? WTF is wrong with me?
So the best that any of the MLSSoccer.com editors has been able to do is to get 49% of their pick right? Suddenly, there is hope!
When Plata is in, he's somewhat of a hybrid Mid/Forward anyway. So while it's not exactly a 4-5-1, it does shift to it here and there as he drops back to make plays. He's rarely going straight into the defense, but he does get around and make things happen. The hardest thing about playing a 4-5-1 is that Sabo would need a lot of quality service, which we just don't have from the outside.
I usually only need half a reason to bust this out, but you, sir, have given me a whole reason. And I thank you.
F'em! We lose when they pick us (me, too), so now that they give us no chance, we're gonna come away with 3.
RSL look good and play well but come up short to an energized home team that nearly runs RSL off the puny plastic Portland ping-pong pitch. The Shield remains elusive. 2-1 Timbers.
Na, we'll put in a great win, be leading the SS race when the rest of the results fall our way, then hilariously back into getting the SS after losing to Chivas, and having other results fall our way.
