I don't know about EPL heavy coverage but ESPNFC has been solid and Fox Sports also has Fox Soccer Daily.

Nothing for NBC is on the horizon for that type of programming.

Just set your DVR for either or both of the two I mentioned above and see if either suits your needs.

Did anyone experience a problem today with NBC Sports Extra channels on DirectTV. I have them on channels 491-493 and when I tried to go to a match I just got a giant DirectTV logo and the usual music.

I tried calling customer service but the women hung up on me (literally).

Are you sure? I ask as you seem to be the one who's resorted to hyperbole and insults. I advise taking a few deep breaths.

I have DIRECTV and I had no problems whatsoever. I recorded Stoke-West Ham and was flipping around and saw that all of the games were on. Did you have any weather problems?

Nope. Bright and shining in my area. I called a second time but was disconnected. Apparently though, before being disconnected, the women said that we needed to get some sort of new package that includes the Extra channels.

However, if that is true and I need a package then how come I was able to watch the Extra channels, no problem, for the first 2 match days. I did not bother to call back, the matches were over anyway but it really is a pain in the ass.

I have and they both fail at 2 of my 3 basic criteria (above).

Thus my wait continues for something that was comparable to FSN. I feel it may be a long fruitless wait. But I still harbor a tiny bit of hope. :cautious:

I have for the most part been enjoying the NBC coverage.

But the one thing that I don't like is that they don't give the lineups within the timeframe of the game broadcast itself, as Fox Soccer almost always did.

I have set my DVR to begin five minutes early (which was sometimes necessary with Fox Soccer); but even this isn't enough. I have to set it to begin 15 minutes early, or else record the pre-game show, in order to get the lineups.

If they won't give the lineups in a full-screen graphic immediately before kick-off, then I wish they'd at least do as ESPN used to, and show them in a crawl immediately after kickoff.

Any idea what NBC Sports has planned for Deadline Day coverage?

All the Extra Time games will only show the lineups before the match, so get used to it until NBC works it out with the OSG's on the various providers. Think of it as kickoff at 10am sharp. It's not like baseball where they start the games at 7:05 so TV/Radio can get in before the first pitch. Or most MLS matches kicking off 8 minutes after the scheduled time for TV reasons as well.

Fox Soccer Plus always used the international feed and showed lineups early.

    Thx,

I could've sworn that NBCSN used the lower third method of giving the starting lineups for Liverpool-Manchester United this morning as they were waiting for the kickoff. I remember it happening right before YNWA. I could also have been imagining it.

Good question. FSC was great last year on Deadline Day.

Is NBCSN going to step up to the plate?

There should be about 10,000 streams of Sky Sports News out on the interwebs tomorrow. Fill your boots.

I just finished watching Match of the Day. The replay of Liverpool-MUFC started with the teams coming out of the tunnel. As they walked out, both teams lineups were given in the lower third, starting with each team's formation, then the players. That's how I thought I remembered it happening earlier.

NBCSN hasn't launched any studio/talk shows successfully. Pro Football Talk isn't working. Michelle Beadle's Crossover is a flop. The Lights has been canceled.

Beside some live sporting events, Bill Dance Outdoors is the most popular program on the network. Executives would like to drop the remnants of the Outdoor Life Network but doing so would mean filling another three hours and they can't find an audience for their current shows.

In other words, there won't be a soccer show on NBCSN until other programming holes are filled.

FSC showed Sky Sports News all day.

Having to stream is a step backwards.

Didn't have to stream last year.

Has nothing to do with the EPL being on NBC. Find another forum to tilt at this particular windmill.

On comcast and I am not excited about NBC getting the EPL games. Fox soccer just went away and with it the only all soccer news show and anytime you turn on the channel soccer is on option.

Supposedly NBC is broadcasting all the games, but where? Internet streams?

    My two cents?

This has been a giant screw up where DISH is involved. Rather than show the other games on the other networks that were supposedly to be used, the only "live" matches you'll see on TV are what they show on NBC and NBCSP.

So, if your team isn't one of those matches, you have to resort to watching online.

Sorry but that's bush league from one of the largest satellite/cable providers in the country. What made me laugh is that I read somewhere that they said they "didn't have capacity" to put the other matches on ALT channels like DirectTV has done.

Are you kidding me? They've got more than enough room to put them on there.

All in all, I'll probably be looking at changing providers if they don't get this fixed.

As for the change, I'm glad that it's been an upgrade for you. For me, and I suspect quite a few others, it's been a downgrade from what it was when FSC/FSC+/ESPN had the matches.

Do people really expect NBC to show games on USA, CNBC, MSNBC, Bravo? Ridiculous. Comparable to ESPN having the rights to the Champions League and people expecting them to show games on ABC Family or something because they can only show some on ESPN, ESPN2 etc etc (yeah i know when they had the rights it sucked, but atleast we get all games live now!).

NBC Sports Network is a sports the channel, the other ones show news, entertainment and real housewives of Louisville or whatever.

Blame your provider for not adding the extra time channels instead.

I bet in most countries around the world, these games are shown on sports channels and moreover US coverage is just as good if not better than most.

It's still an upgrade because ESPN would regularly not air the games they had rights to on their TV channels and not all of us have ISPs that subscribe to ESPN's streaming service. NBC streams ALL the games live to people who receive NBCSN, unlike FOX who spun the non-aired games off into another expensive TV channel and an unreliable internet streaming service. So DISH Network or not, if you have NBCSN, you have access to all of the games. That is a major upgrade over FOX/ESPN.

To a certain extent I agree with you.

That said, I believe NBC could have used some of their Sports specific Channels better. Universal Sports for example could show live matches. Also Telemundo should have a live match every week with English SAP commentary like they have done in the past for USA-Mexico. Also, regional Comcast Sports Networks could have been used more effectively too. Right now they just show delayed games during the week.

NBC paid a good amount of money to buy Premier League rights to strengthen NBCSN - they don't want to spread the focus too much from their main sports network. And with the trouble FOX, CBS and FOX are having competing with ESPN, you can understand how they want keep as many eyeballs on the property they're trying to boost.

    That is a good point.
Still want to see more games on Telemundo though. Less on Mun2.
