    You should go to:

    • Zawraa garden and the zoo.
    • Al Karrada (very nice markets)
    • National museum
    • Al Kadhimain Shrine
    • Mustansiriya school
    • Khan murjan
    • See the monuments like the unknown soldier or the shaheed.
    • Go to some traditional markets like al shorja for the real iraq feeling. ;)

I was about FIFA AFC qualifying and how Iraq missed the WC for 2014. I understand that Iraq was doing so well in round 2 and 3 of qualifying but fell apart in Round 4. Is it just because the superior competition that they faced they faltered? or was it more then that. You had to at least sweep Oman and Jordan especially since Japan and the Aussies were in your group. Too tough I suppose.

Switching between three coaches in a campaign, playing a minimal amount of friendlies against B-sides of weak national teams, not holding on to one line up and strategy, playing 'home' games in wich the opposition has more fans and having people in our FA who only care about personal gain are all reasons why we didn't qualify. We did not face superior opponents in my opinion; we played against australia and Japan (both away games) with young, inexperienced players and lost both games with 0-1 without being dominated. We tend to do well in tournaments because consistency plays a minor role in comparison with long WCQ campaigns.

Because we reached a point in our country where everyone can be a politician as long as you are supported by certain parties. And that is not only the case for politicians but for every aspect of life including sport. We are deteriorating with each day passing. But no one, except for the Iraqi's, are seeing it because the focus has been shifted from Iraq to Syria and other countries.

Returning to your question; This is the brother of Hakeem Shaker (the current coach of the national, olympic and youth team) using the name of the NT coach to gain votes for the upcoming elections. You can call it a family business. Hakeem Shaker is practically at the head of all national teams i mentioned while we have dozens of better coaches in Iraq and he disqualified himself more than once.

The Al-Zawraa player Amjad Walid has backed down, ‘forgetting what had happen’, and apologised to the Iraqi coach Hakim Shaker for his outburst. The winger has been one of the best performers in the Iraqi league, and the Iraqi fans and media have called for his inclusion in the national side. He stated that ‘maybe’ the statements were made because he was upset. He had claimed that the coach Hakim Shaker had asked for a bribe to play for the youth side at the World Youth Cup.

Ah I see corruption at its finest. How is the domestic political situation in Iraq right now? Ever since the US has began to withdrawal troops I foolishly stopped following the events on the ground. How is security has it deteriorated since 2011? Are basic services in Baghdad and throughout the country still lacking, is sectarian strife rampant or has it subsided.

It's a mess. It seems safer for outsiders but that is just because you don't hear anything about Iraq in the news anymore (The message: and they lived happily ever after). Cities are being taken over by the same terrorist groups that are active in Syria and the government is not able to regain control. The government is also not able to provide basic needs such as water and electricity while they had more than 10 years to do so. Sectarian violence is ocurring on a daily basis.

It sounds very negative but in all honesty, there is nothing to be optimistic about. The people who control Iraq are a disgrace and they only care about personal gain.

Thank you. Iraq is improving as a country and hopefully ISIS and all the sectarian bullshit will come to an end in 2015.

What many countries were worried about has finally happened.

We saw the news about Iraqi Kurdistan is asking for independence. What are your opinions about this?

Barzani: Time is ripe for referendum; Kurdish independence brings the region peace
