This game shows how tenuous the chemistry of MLS teams is because of lack of depth (salary cap). Remove Alonso, and the Sounders MF went kaput. We also saw that when Juninho went down against the Red Bulls the Galaxy was just not the same team. Oh, and even aside from his fouls Joseph is past it. I'll be surprised if his MLS career lasts more than one additional season, if that.
The Rapids must have no chemistry then, given their injury problems. Somehow they've only lost once in the last nine though...
I didn't realize before the game Rogers said he hoped to come in when the team was up 4-0 and the game was put away.
Back from the pub and definitely didn't drink enough after that fiasco. My thoughts: 1. 5 minutes into the game I was thinking Seattle was not mentally there. It made me think of the infamous refund game. I was not wrong. 2. LA has gotten into Seattle's minds - Seattle seems to be scared of them. 3. I shed a tear when Rogers came on. As a gay man this was a massive moment for me. It was also strange in that no one else in the pub realized how historic that moment was (the volume was muted and ESPN did not have any graphics relaying the importance of the moment). I guess there is some poetry to that. 4. ESPN does not replay off-sides calls - at least I presume that is what was repeatedly called. There was no graphic or replay that would allow me to figure out if my assumption was right. 5. Awful awful game by Seattle but massive congratulations to Robbie Rogers - you just made history and your name will not be forgotten. I am a proud gay man tonight thanks to what he just accomplished. Hopefully his example will inspire the other one or two closeted gay guys (I presume) who were on the field tonight.
2-0 in the first half is a surmountable deficit. That PK call (and RETAKE!) just god awful. Baldemero Toledo should be appropriately punished.
To be honest, the Sounders only have themselves to blame tonight. They did not bother to show up. The result would have been no different with a much better ref. LA would have still slapped us silly.
