No ! don't close this thread.. even there is more reason to leave it open and exposse of why SL is one of the biggest asset in our team.
First off, I apologize for posting my analysis after such an awesome performance, it's not really fighting fair. That said, he was clearly missing in the New York match, Dawkins is a fine player but he had zero presence in the box that game. Everyone noticed it. Against Vancouver we had no offense at all for an hour. I made the comment it felt like bowling with softballs, with nobody to mess them up in the box. Lenhart scores as many goals per shot as Wondo does, plus he's vital to our possession game.
I am so embarrassed that Lenhart is a member of the Quakes. Absolutely disgusted. Argh! Why couldn't we have had an honest citizen like Carlos Ruiz? Hey, BTW, I missed the game tonight. Did we win? Anything interesting happen?
Back around 1950, there was a very famous pro wrestler who went by the monicker of Gorgeous George. Hair was almost exactly like Lionheart's. Call him "Gorgeous."
I got the wig. It is so awesome. It embarrasses my son and makes my husband jealous. For only $10! If they'll let me out of the house, I'm wearing it Wednesday.
Husband embarrassed? Must be missing a few follicles on top. Tell him welcome to the club. I want a Lenny wig, too.
Looks like SL knows how to keep a promise. In his Extra-Time interview, Frank said Lenny promised him no more yellows for the next three games.
That's cool. Lenny indeed looked like all biz in Philly. It was great he showed such goal-scoring ability after the questions raised by the RSL game.
Hehe, I was thinking that Yallop might have a devious plan. If the rules say three games, can Yallop just bring him off the bench for 3 short shifts? Tell Lenny "give me 20 clean minutes per game". This keeps him fresh, lets him get into game shape and helps by removing one of the yellows after 3 games (with limited minutes). Works for me....
I was wondering about that. Do the rules say "3 full games?" or "3 games, at least 60 minutes per game" or ??? If a coach subs a player in at the very end of three games, would that work?
Yes, any appearance in the game counts. But remember, a player only gets one chance a year to remove a yellow card from his count (in this case go from 4 back to 3 in the count). And then he still has to serve a suspension after he gets his 5th card, and then after his 8th and then 11th and then 13th and every 2nd card after that. So playing any games with Lenhart on the bench to save him from suspension is not really going to help. If he's fit enough to start, he should start. If he only plays the last few minutes of his game, that's almost as bad as serving a one game suspension anyway. He's going to be suspended at some point or other, just get on with it. But he needs to reduce the frequency of his yellow cards or pretty soon he'll be missing every 3rd or 4th game. He's picked up bad habits in the past year and a half with the Quakes, as before he came here he only had a total of 5 yellow cards in almost 3000 minutes played. With the Quakes, he has 10 in about 1500 minutes. Some of it may be that refs are watching his play more closely, but some of it is just dumb or lazy (kicking the ball away, grabbing a shirt and pulling it so obviously the ref has to call it, etc). He can be physical and intimidating without collecting yellow cards, and hopefully this stretch of games is going to remind him of that.
Some people I know say that they drive around on an empty tank to save gas money. But I know the real way to save gas money. Negating the basically insignificant factor of the weight of a few gallons, I always buy my cars full, and sell them empty. I know it took like 5-10 years, but: free tank of gas right there. ....otherwise, you either drove all those miles with a full tank or an empty one... Don't know why that reminded me of this.
First off... WOW, how long have I been gone that the entire BS forum has new look? btw it's hideous! Lenhart Asset of Liability? Clearly he is both and depending on how you view the sport likely has much to do with your opinion of him. I saw an article on Ives asking who the leagues most hated player was, Rafa Marquez won hands down, Lehart came in a close second. There is no denying he is a spark plug and seems to have ceaseless amounts of energy. There is also no denying he pushes, pulls, elbows and kicks his way through defenses. If you enjoy physical play and you think the game is better for the brute force style of play Lenhart represents then it is likely you believe he is an assest... at least if he is on your team. I personally don't like his style of play and I don't think it makes the game a better game, in fact I think for decades the British/American style of physical play has diminished the sport, but that is just my view. Some folks see it as the future of the sport. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the two goals he scored in PA. but I'd so much prefer he did it without being the kind of player who fouls his way through the defense whether the referees are watching or not. Asset?........Yes. Liability.....Hell yes.
