Best part of the match: Mascherano gesturing that Drogba was diving. Is irony not a continental trait?

Also, the Prem 20th Anniversary is coming up and they opened voting for several categories:
    http://www.premierleague.com/en-gb/20-seasons.html

Missing is Seaman's save on Peschisolido and Henry's slide against Tottenham (Prem probably left it out on purpose, don't want to provoke anything, though we all agree it was good enough that it should be commemorated with a statue).

    No-brainer for the best goal.

Does the fact that there are three times where Arsenal gave up a lead to tie 4-4 and the 8-2 drubbing for "Best Game Over 20 Years" make anyone else a little depressed :(

I get why the 4-4 games are on there, they may have been frustrating for us but they were definitely exciting. Why the 8-2 game and the 6-1 Man City over Man Utd game are on the list is beyond me. If you ask people what the greatest "insert sport" championship game of all time is I doubt they would tell you about some blowout.

pretty difficult to (honestly) pick just a best 11 with no subs offered, though i still ended up with 6 arsenal players.

Did he not also say that Arsenal were always under prepared for big games? I so hope we win a trophy before before Nasri and him. I do not hate him but my love for him is no more.

Worst case scario--we come in 4th, Spurs in 3rd and Chavs win CL. We miss out on next year's CL then. To be avoided at all costs--we HAVE TO COME IN 3rd!!!!

Quit dicking around with lineups --no more "Denilson-Almunia" type of selections--play your BEST 11, goddamn it!!!!!

    seaman.
to be honest, they MUST have left some players out i might have picked, or liked to have a choice of.
the rb position was particularly poor for choice. the only 2 really strong options were neville and dixon.
then you get to the forwards and have an abundance of riches.....how in god's name am i to choose a partner for henry out of shearer, fowler, wright and bergkamp? they all have very strong claims (rudd van donkeyface was never getting in, especially when the choices were so good). in the end i picked shearer, purely on his ultimate tally over many years.
i hated no being able to pick beckham, ljungberg, pires, overmars and le tissier too but, as i said, i was trying to be honest.
giggs may suck now, but he deserves that lw spot.
ronaldo may be an arse, but he deserves that rw spot. it just had to be keane and vieira in cm, didn't it?
in the end my team was
    seaman
    dixon, campbell, adams, pearce
    roanldo, keane, vieira, giggs
    henry, shearer

That's freaking tough. It basically comes down to a Man United-Arsenal show. I went with:

    ----------------- Seaman***
    Dixon ------- Ferdinand ----- Adams ------ Cole
    Beckham* ---- Vieira ---- Keane** ----- Giggs
    ----------------- Henry--- Shearer

    * - Beckham/Ronaldo was a tossup, really. Ronaldo is clearly the best player on that list, but he really only had two dominant seasons in the EPL before he was off. Becks wins on years of being good in the EPL.

** - Keane/Vieira - wouldn't pick this if it was a real XI, but they don't actually have to play, so...

*** - Clean sheet record holder.

I didn't vote for best game, because there wasn't a good choice. I also didn't vote for Best Save because I couldn't choose.

Best goal? Bergkamp. Rooney and Henry top 3.

    Best celebration? Cantona.

I know people voted for Giggs because he has played so long but Pires' peak was better.

    Schmeichel

Lehman was also a better keeper than Seaman - by far.

i know your a bit german-centric here, but.....get a grip. as good a keeper as he was, in no real or alternate version of reality was lehmann better than seaman.
actually, the "gunners greatest players" poll, taken weeks after lehmann's strong 5 year stint, has 3 keepers on the list, none of them are jens lehmann, and seaman is ranked highest at 7th.

We have the exact same midfield!

Logically, I should have picked Cole for LB but I couldn't choose that cvnt. My back-line was very Arsenal bias. haha

Henry has got to be the best striker.

It's awfully hard to leave Bergkamp out -- but he's hurt by the fact that he wasn't really an out-and-out forward, especiailly amongst the names on that list.

Then again, there's plenty of other guys that are hard to leave out at other positions, too.

No, with regard to Jens. I think you must not be familiar with the entirety of Seaman's career at Arsenal.

My head says Schmeichel, but my heart would reach up through my neck, throttle my brain, and replace him with Seaman, who not only was a better keeper than Lehmann but was also considerably less likely to get himself sent off.

As for RB, I'd go for Sagna over Dixon. Dixon was a great right back, but Im not sure he'd manage half as well in todays more H&S conscious game.

Schmeichel was probably the better keeper, but he and Seaman are clearly the top two names on that list. Seaman is still the EPL all-time clean sheet leader, IIRC.

le tissier (and probably cantona too) fell into that same problem area....not quite a striker, not quite a normal midfielder.
