Well these days, "building for the future" results in having your players jetting off to europe very quickly, not necessarily having a squad of players that can stick around for 5 years. Cerezo will tell you the same :D

But yeah they definitely shouldn't have got rid of Tashiro.

Pity Eddy Bosnar has left the league, good player.

Who'd be the highest profile foreign import so far?

Rather an useless one, Hasegawa won't be starting more than he was at Yokohama.

I don't see Aria with his poor technique as starter in any J1 club. So Tokyo would be a big no, no, no for him.

VERY upset to see Kazuma go, the best is yet to come from him. Aria is some nice dead weight lifted. Good luck to them both!

He has potential, but also he's a real troublemaker. In general, unfit for Japan's "WA"

My question: how many players does FC Tokyo have in the squad?

    Should be 45 or so.

Also a bit surprised they keep buying average or just above average players but never a top player - ditto for their foreign players.

Well, right now we're maxed out on foreigners w/ Lucas, Roberto Cesar, Jang Hyun-Soo, and Jade North... so the question is whether they keep North or dump him and find another (!) foreigner. But where would they need one...?

We're also going to have to figure out what to do with all of the players out on loan. But I think if we end up in the ACL, having a larger squad will be to our advantage...

On the plus side, at least we never have players who are turned into pariahs for failing to live up to abnormally high expectations =P

It was a real shame Hirai couldn't get any consistent playing time at Gamba this season.

    Can't be true.

Gamba never sign good defenders.

don't like it, I don't trust Gamba's new management at all. Time will tell but I think he had a better shot at winning if he stayed in Tokyo.
But they expected him to go and reached an agreement with Kaga so I guess it can't be helped now.

Is there any more news on Lee's move to Southampton?

I must say, it does strike me as 'agent talk'. It's very rare that any transfers involving Southampton are heard of in the press prior to the official announcement.

Lee's transfer would be a big deal in Japan so it's no surprise the story is leaking.

I'm told that Lee was seen at the St Mary's Stadium on the 29th November to see Southampton v Hull City. I can't see this being likely, as he was in Japan on the 26th and 3rd December?

The J.league was still going on so it"s unlikely but you never know. Still looks like an urban legend, any asian guy seen at a Southampton guy would be Lee after the rumor started spreading.
